Joncom2000 Demo Archives
« on: August 07, 2009 »

Since hardly any of my demos or intros are available anywhere I thought I would post a few here. Almost all are coded in blitzbasic using only 2d drawing so any 3d effects are software rendered. I will post a small screenshot and the demo in a post with alittle bit of information about the demo, if I can remember any :)

So to start the ball rolling here's the first one.

This demo is called "stars in a box" it was my 3rd attempt at making a demo in blitz, the effects are set to change based on events in the scrolltext. I havent got the source to this demo anymore so I have not been able to change it so the scroll text points to the old dbf site. It should run on any dx7 level pc at a reasonable speed. I have tested it on vista with no problems.

Second demo is also an old one called "Soundballs". It might even have been my second demo, this version I think was a rework I did with a new tune tho I cant recall why. The dotballs react to the music.

Here's an intro called "Alphastars" Catchy title eh :D
It was my attempt to create addative blending stars morphing between different patterns. It's all 2d software pixel pushing and was made after I coded a similiar effect in darkbasic, we wont go there as that was a bad day and this demo out did the speed and look anyway.

Now we have the very first demo to have the TTD name on it "cubis", At the time I was the only member of The Tin Dragons and in some respects it shows but it was my first demo with filled vectors, something which I have to say wouldnt have been possible with out pointers from shockwave. Spacebar moves between effects screens. The demo seems to run alittle slow for me but it might be my quadcore, hopefully you can still enjoy it.

Thats all for now, dont wont to flood the board. I will post some more over the next week or so. I hope you can enjoy them and get a glimpse of my 2003/4 coding days  :)

I get a mav with cubis.. I was really looking forward to seeing it again too.

Stars In A Box works just fine, nice nostalgia there, I am just about to check the other two now.

So glad you put these back up, I remember them the first time round, very cool stuff indeed.
I'll reiterate that too for I-Torus.
