[LIQUID] Moving Water
« on: February 15, 2010 »
A simple little water effect demo. Not much really. This does use my screen graphics framework I have been posting in the tutorials sections though and I am happy it works quite well in a real program.

The zip includes the exe and FreeBasic source.

Good first entry :) I miss these little buffered water effects..my only complaint though is that the ripples imo should come from the bottom of the screen so it would look like bigger waves closer to the viewer...but I'm just nit-picking :) welldone!

I used to dream of water reflections like that on the Amiga :)

Nice job Rick :)

It creates a nice mood. I have to second Ferris bigger waves closer to the viewer would be nice.

Thanks.

I did try reversing the waves points, but it didn't really look right. I would probably have to convert this to 3D from 2D in order for the waves to have any real depth to them.

Cool entry. The effect looks best when it has filled the whole of the lower half of the image.

Yeah, that was mine. I had a computer crash and lost a lot of my work. I'll look on some of my back-up CDs and see if it is there.

I used the same song as it had some nice wave sounds in it, which fit with the mood of the piece. I used it in The last Mission for the same reason, to metaphorically give it a feel of an ocean voyage, the "Sea of Space" idea. I thought it worked well.
