[LIQUID] Rainbow Fountain

After seeing the amazing variety of entries, I decided to try something a bit different and combine light with water, to create a Rainbow Fountain.

Sorry for the low framereate - Flash doesn't seem to like rendering 2001 objects very quickly, otherwise I would have put a nice background in too, but it was slowing the framerate even more.

Nice, I was hoping for some last minute entries! 

This would've been perfect as a bitmap, because the mc's are almost pixel size. Flash8 can manipulate thousands of pixels directly on a bitmap, with little slowdown. Google the bitmapData Object for more info.

After some last minute tinkering, I have improved the framerate by reducing the droplet count from 2001 to 1001. There is also an improvement to the colour calculation which makes it much more gradual, improving the realism.

I also added a picture. Maybe I should have called this "Rainbow Geyser". Is it too late to change the name of the entry?

If you squint your eyes a bit (or blur your vision slightly), you can almost see a rainbow.

Nice idea about adding rainbow colors and the simulation of the fountain particles looks great.

The more gradual color is a huge improvement over the first version, I didn't see the image though...

The framerate wasn't too bad here, I'd have said about 30fps, fine.

The picture I added was a jpg attachment to the first post. Sorry, I should have been more specific.

I decided to leave the background image out to focus on keeping the frame-rate up.

The water drops form back together when they have fallen down! Neat bursting particle-emitter!
