impressing looking plasma. sorry for digging up an old thread but since this interests me i assume it'll interest any other budding demo coders.

Also in case its helpfu I use this code for ploting bytes as recalculating the y pixel position in bytes can slow down your code needlessly.

The code below is for 1byte=1pixel. ie anything of 256 colours or less.

'Screen Y LUT for speed in 8 bit gfx ops
dim tmpsd as uinteger=0
For i as integer = 0 TO SCREENH-1
   YLUT(i) = tmpsd : tmpsd +=SCREENW

The code below is for 4byte=1pixel. ie 32 bit.

'Screen Y LUT for speed in 32 bit gfx ops
dim tmpsd as uinteger=0
For i as integer = 0 TO SCREENH-1
   YLUT(i) = tmpsd : tmpsd +=SCREENW*4
Next ' Makes a LUT for line offsets in bytes

Is it cool to comment on the results or is that considered bad form?
.....if the comments are positive then that would be cool.
For the record... I didnt see a poor entry only the occasional poor point score.
I just wanted to say that a lot of entries got relatively low results... and they really deserved more. before any one says it.... lol Im not including me, im trying to be impartial and aloof.

For example... Shockie you only got 1 point for your demo and that was vastly superior to my entries.. Ive seen the source.(thx for that btw. very interesting. ;) )
I dunno maybe the number of votes to cast could be set depending on the number of entries or summat... just spitballing.

Anyways my first outing in demoland was fun and exciting.
Thank you all for that.

I cant see any thing.. nice music then a blank screen.

Ive not learned any other API than the FB native drawing routines so this could be useful
Added to my source code examples. :stirrer:

Ahh, Uncle John .. we all still miss him.... You know i wrote his epitaph.
Ck0 gets partial credits lol :sunny:

btw ck0 I voted for ya. dont know why... I just felt the sudden uncontrollable compulsion to click this rainbow thingy box.. weird eh? :buddies::wank:

I know, it sounded familiar to me when i first heard it too.

2 people have asked me about that chiptune now and the truth is ive NO idea where i got it from. It was in a folder on my hard drive that's about 300 meg and just had tunes Ive leeched from all over the net.

Ive been  trying to find the site that it came from but a recent computer explosion has me at loss for most of my hoarded data as well as the source. Ill keep trying.

PS.Word of advise. DONT fall out with your girlfriend when shes holding a glass of coke and the side panel is off your computer. Sparky.

Nice Poem
Thats nice.

Care to tell us.
How you came

Glad to see shockie found a loophole in his own rules, lol.  ;D
Good stuff man.

I think most people will need a video to see this one though as dx 10 (and the system it requires) is a pretty steep request.

Try the Intel version please mate.
It should work now.

My Amd computer is dead so I rewrote some stuff on my replacement celeron.
Also modified it a bit...  I think it looks better. More rainbowy! :D

The guilty instruction were: Femms, PrefetchW and (suprisingly) PAVGUSB.

For me.. this is a probable winner.
Just awesome. Well done.

Thanks all.

This one works on Intel ой, as Shockie said, it looks like a cracktro :)
Haha yeah my amd-xp computer 'turned turkey' on me so Im on a crappy celeron now. On the plus side I found out the issue with my other demo... Prefetchw

Sigh... Silver Linings eh?
Both demos should work on both types of processor.

Impressive, Its very convincing.
I would very much like to see the source code for that effect.(assuming of course you decide to release it.. )

Ps. Ive got crabs.  :whisper:
I know. Its not the point but how often do i get to mention my crabs in polite conversation? That was my chance and i took it.  :updance:

Classic totally retro ... Loved it.

Especially the simulated lighting/water overlay. That's very cool.

Is it sine plasma? cos i tried that and couldn't get it to look realistic.

Thanks for posting ....

I cant believe they're trying to enter the PC market again.

After watching C= screw up awesome machine after awesome machine with zero advertising and almost zero support... (and i still cant believe im typing this on a ibm/m$ machine but ..) Fuck commodore.

I swore Id never buy another c= machine after the A1200 so i dont care what it does better than a mac or pc... I, for one, will not be buying this machine.
