Nino, meaby a 3d printer would be something to look into someday. I know there's at least one open source project. Once you got it working, coding for it should be easy. Printing out a 3d plasma and a bunch of super shapes is on the top of my to do list once I get my hands on one. :kewl:

I bet once 3d printing takes off it will be an even bigger revolution then the internet was.

Looks great nino! Never coded bumps myself but use them extensively in my 3d work. Now I can't wait to give it a try as well, interesting thread. :)

Actually that was a colorised perlin noise which confusedly thinks it's a plasma. ;)
I changed it's mind and now it behaves nearly like I want.

I tried upscaling and bluring... which super clever individuals like yourself will have thought of. :skint:

It seemed promising at first, but when the shapes got too big or too irregular (with gaps for example) things would go all kinds of weird. In all it wasn't good enough for a free form shadow caster.

My best attempts were non free form point collections, I never quite fixed 2d shadows to my satisfaction.

I had a few goes at 2d shadow casting including one potentionally super clever trick which failed spectacularly (I got lots of those! ;)).

Sounds good CK, do you form words from vowels and such, or sentences using preformed word samples? I'm trying to do the former, but without much succes atm. Not a total failure either, I'm not giving up on it quite yet.

I'm going to write a concatinative speech synth... In Flash! I have no idea if Flash is up for the task (or if I am) but it's about time we find out. Concatinative speech synthesis strings together short speech samples.

Worst case: Flash won't be able to mix such short sounds together with high fidelity, but I'm at least hoping for some recognisable speech like chatter. Wish me luck. All advice welcome!
