Hi!

I'm Per, I mainly code asm on Atari STE's under the project name "Excellence in Art", but I've dabbled in asm on Spectravideo's, C64's and DOS machines as well. Oh, and a little C on GameBoy Color. When I get enough free time (which seems highly unlikely at the moment) I'll finally finish my DX9 framework and hopefully do some C++ stuff for Windows.

Greetings to all!

Due to "zero post account" policy I decided to post my first piece here. I registered over a half year ago and hasn't posted until now but don't get me wrong - I am not a spammer/lurker/put_your_worst_insult_here. I just wanted to have a quick look on what's digging nowadays in demo coding, to bring back childhood memories, to feel good vibes again.

I had been a member of few Polish demoscene groups in 80'/90' - local groups actually, I didn't manage to get much publicity... ;) Now I am just a mere observer of what is going on in my long forgotten playground. Though I keep thinking to myself I could start over again.

Anyway, I started coding in 1986 when I got my Zx Spectrum 48K. At first I was just playing with BASIC. Then I saw some demoes made by my friends - I thought I could do better so I dived into Z80 assembly. It was a real fun - pity that none of my work has survived to this day. Then an Amiga 500 popped up with its blitter/copper magic. I coudn't resist myself and dropped Speccy for a new lover. Spent few years doing 68K assembly. Finally came IBM PC era. I tried 8086 assembly, Pascal (anyone doing it in Pascal yet?), C but it just wasn't the same. I somehow lost my joy with programming (8-bit rulez  ;D )...

I had a really long break with coding (not to mention PHP and Javascript - I do websites these days). Looking around internet I found this forum and I am damn glad I did. Maybe, I could start coding again like in good, old days!

P.S.
Sorry about my English - I'm not a native speaker.

Hah, consider me another snowball in the avalanche :)

I too am no spam-bot. I code in AS3 (mostly) and release games on http://www.photonstorm.com - most of which have a very retro/demo-scene feel, as that is where I grew up and where my heart still lies. Am working on a collab with another coder to make a Flash based "Amiga" demo.. i.e. we'll fake it all of course, but it should /look/ authentic :)

I also run http://www.atari.st (but have not updated for SO long.. my bad.. life, ya'know?)

Cheers,

Rich

:)Well, I've been lurking for a little while, soaking up all the great info on the site. Probably time to say 'Hello' :)

I started out on the good old A500, doing gfx for a few amiga scene groups such as Defekt, Cosine and Anthrox.  I eventually gave up pixelling and moved into coding when I got a PC.  I've always loved demos and made a couple of shoddy intros for the PS2 a few years back. I've been meaning to throw myself into OpenGL and Direct3D for some time and am looking forward to attempting some sort of 4k intro for the PC in the near future.  I've also been doing some iOS developement on iPhone and iPad lately, so maybe an intro for those devices could be on the cards :)

I think this forum kicks some serious butt! There's so much great info here and it seems to have a great community feel.  I've learnt so much already just reading over the old posts.

Hopefully I'll be able to contribute something myself soon!

Hi all,

I've been coding c64 demo's in assembler quite a while back. I subscribed here to learn the basics of pc demo's. :)
