Hi everybody.  I've been interested in demoscene for ~25 years,  and I released a few wholly unremarkable efforts for the Acorn Archimedes back in the day.  In the last 6 years I've managed to visit at least one demo party each year.

A few years ago I purchased an Acorn RiscPC, the platform I could never afford in my youth. I began dabbling with gfx effects in ARM assembly embedded in BASIC.  More recently I've been learning and using C, with a sprinkling of inline ARM.

I'll no doubt be asking for pointers on old-school algorithms.  There's still some effects that stymie me.

Cheers folks.  Perhaps I'll see you at Outline this year.

Hi Stavs,

welcome on board. Almost forgot about the Acorn Archimedes. Back in my youth when I owned an Amiga2000 I was quite interested in the Archimedes, too. But since I already owned an Amiga2000 I had no money left to buy on Archimedes, too.

But I remember that this computer was highly interesting, amongst other things for the game Zarch

Hehe.  Yes, Zarch was a great tech demo,  but I didn't find it very rewarding to play.

There were several much more entertaining, and technically superior, games for the Arch such as Star Fighter 3000 and Aldebaran.

rc55 is moving to Australia in a few weeks,  so I'm not sure if Sundown is going to happen again this year...  :'(

Hi Stavs, welcome to DBF :)

Good for Ruairi, I thought about emigrating there myself about 10 years ago... No chance now though.  Gutted that I missed Sundown this year again - I've been twice in the past and enjoyed it on both occasions but the last 2 times I've planned to go my eyes have been playing up and I've been unable to drive :(

Anyway, maybe the other one (sunrise) will be on this year instead.

I thought so :) o/

Yeah, Sundown does sound like it may well not happen this year. Fingers crossed that something does come together as I had a great time there last year :)

Hi Exilepilot ... it's cool to have a graphic designer who can code around. Do you have an online gallery of your art? Would be interesting to see.
Enjoy your stay.

I have an online portfolio, although it's not the most organized one. It contains really old work and some new, most of my good work is on DeviantART. I've progressed from manipulations to UI design, I'm also learning vector art which is really handy when creating game sprites/characters...etc

Indeed, I use Lua in a game called MTA. It's an online version of GTA:SA, it uses C++ and has Lua virtual machine embedded into it, for server-side/client-side scripting which has grown over the years and gives you the choice to create pretty much anything (Within reason, obviously). I learned C from a 'C for dummies' book, which I finished within 3 weeks and found it very interesting. I progressed onto C++ which was a big move, using a language with object oriented capabilities was hard at first but I am most comfortable with it, but still got allot to learn.

I'm interested in programming syntax's, paradigms, how they're typed...etc.
I also have the slightest knowledge of Ruby, D, PHP, Java.
