Hey guys!
Just found this forum by chance (was searching for info on making tiny PE:s for the win7)
I've been in the finnish demoscene for a few years, mostly partycoding and boozing. ;)

Hey there :) Long-time fan of the demoscene here, from back in the Amiga days onwards. I've dabbled briefly in music and coding (and was briefly involved in the console scene around 2000-ish doing trainers) but never really released anything, and I've decided to crack on and put something together, as coding/composing practice if nothing else :)

Hey StuAA. Good to see you. Consoles are an interesting place to come from, a different approach to the demoscene. There were some cool cracktros with some psone games. What platforms were you making trainers for?

Look forward to seeing with you come up with now. :)

I AM HUMAN, DON'T DELETE MY ACCOUNT@#$#^&%^&*

Alright. With that out of the way. Hiya!

Old time member here, kind of. I was here a few years back, in an earlier incarnation of the DBF forums. IIRC, I met Shockwave on some blitzbasic forum of some kind at the time. Back then, he was a tall entirely hairless woman-lizard hybrid that spoke strictly in latin, dunno what became of that? Oh well. I used to go by 'Random' back then I guess and this was my stuff (all links dead now.. boo) http://www.pouet.net/groups.php?which=3082

As you can see.. I refuse to acknowledge any technological progress after 1993 :D

So about me. Old time semi-scener, been trying to explain to my friends that demos have a purpose since the good old Amiga days. News of a local (that would be: Montreal) demoparty in November this year kinda put me back in the demomaking mood... I'm primarily a musician, but I do dabble in code, and I can do some pixelpushing when a gun is held to my head. At the moment I'm (still) using Blitz but I'm looking to graduate to an actual language with large hairy testicles like C++ but damn it looks like a huge jump.

That's about it!

Hi,
I love sites like this. Been a fan of demo programming since the golden days of the Amiga.
Did some 68k asm back then, and played with some inline assembly in C++ on the PC.
Would love to get back into it and this looks like a good place to start.

Cheers!

Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome :) And hello n00bstar and adhamW!

Hey StuAA. Good to see you. Consoles are an interesting place to come from, a different approach to the demoscene. There were some cool cracktros with some psone games. What platforms were you making trainers for?

Call me paranoid but even though it was years ago, I'm still a little wary of giving out info about it, just in case! It always felt like a pretty small, close-knit scene too (although not so close-knit that there wasn't a bit of rivalry, friendly and otherwise ;)) -- suffice to say there were only really a handful of us training games, and very few groups bothered to put cracktros on their game releases. That said, we had a few Amiga sceners in our group, including our main coder -- that brought an oldskool feel to our releases, which were definitely more in the C64/Amiga vein than anything else!

I don't think it's paranoid at all, just sensible.
If you were interested in making these small intros and had contacts then keeping your true identity secret is a must, a friend one warned me that if my intro got used on a game that cost millions of dollars to develop, and the software company got wind of who did it, then that company would certainly have the financial means and motive to pursue me and try to reveal my contacts.

A lot of quite high profile guys got busted a few years back which brought down most of the main PC groups.

These days it's safer to just write these intros for fun and share them with your friends :)  After all, we're all grown up now and many of us are working in the software industry so we're not kids with nothing to lose anymore.

Hello all, I'm a coder interested in low level graphics effects, especially voxel rendering. Seems that this forum is wealthy in resources even for non"sceners" such as myself!
