I'm sure that when they ate thier first pie or plate of chips that they didn't want to end up fat like that. I think people can become addicted to eating in exactly the same way as they can to drinking, like Clyde says it can be a comfort thing.. They know what the food is doing to them though so it must be laced with all sorts of guilt, like smoking.
We all know of people who have smoked and suffered ill health because of it.. The ill health creeps up on them gradually. It's a subtle trap like over eating.
I'm sure that when you smoked your first cigarette for instance that you began coughing up blood, you'd stop straight away.. Just like if you ate a pie and suddenly put on a stone in weight you'd stop..
Like all addictions this shit can creep up on you.
I felt really bad about that program and the people in it. I've been addicted to cigarettes myself and it's only when I discovered how the addiction worked that I could really break the drug addiction (smoking is not a habit, if you smoke you are a drug addict and brainwashed by clever marketting and government health warnings! Yes, I believe that government health warnings help to keep people hooked).
I hope that some of those guys on the program last night can get thier weight under control, it was killing them ffs.
