Welcome to the requests forum.
As a member of this community, please feel free to use this facility to find yourself a coder for your demo or intro or other (legal) scene related production!!
We do insist that you follow our guidelines, if you don't follow them you will find that you will get little or no success, so please take the time to read through here before submitting your request.
There are two things you MUST NOT do here;
Do not ask for help with non scene related stuff.
Do not ask for help writing cracktros. *
* Some people on this forum are involved in the production of these intros, but it is a condition of our hosts that we do not have anything illegal here so this subject is a no-go. Our members keep illegal stuff off this board out of respect for the place.
Our Request rules follow a simple format.
You should absolutely always follow the following format when requesting help or your project will most likely not find a coder here;
- - Team name (The name of your group)
- - Project name (Does your demo have a name)
- - Brief description (What sort of demo is it? 64kb? 4kb? 1kb?)
- - Release Date (When does it have to be released?)
- - Release Party (If this is a party production, what party is it going to? Who is taking it to the party?)
- - Compensation (Could just be Fame, Maybe Magic beans, Perhaps you will buy the coder a few beers, maybe more :p )
- - Technology (What skills do you need from a coder?)
- - Talent needed (Who is onboard in the project? Do you have gfx + music?)
- - Team structure (Tell us about who is involved in the demo altogether and what are they doing.)
- - Website (Your website and links to any relevant work, things you've personally worked on before etc.)
- - Contacts (You will be questioned about your project on the forum initially, DO NOT expect a personal email until somebody accepts your project.)
- - Previous Work by Team (links to any relevant work, things your team have worked on before etc.))
- - Additional Info (anything else you think is relevant to this project)
To be fair, the coders on this site also have to follow a set of guidelines when taking part in these requests.
Coders interested in a request are required to follow the following rules;
- - Experience (Your level of experience).
- - Technology (The language and API you propose to use to complete this project).
- - Previous Work (Links to your previous work so that the person making the request can see if your style suits his request).
- - Additional Info (Any additional information you feel is relevant to the project).
Got that?
Great. Everything here must be transparrent and posted in public until both coder and requester have agreed to work together. After the coder and requester have agreed to work together, future developments can then tqake place via pm / im / email / carrier pigeon / whatever.
To give an example, something like this would be an acceptable request;
- - Team name : INCONTINENTS
- - Project name : RUBBER PANTS
- - Brief description : 4KB INTRO FEATURING INCONTINENCE PANTS
- - Release Date : SEPTEMBER 2007
- - Release Party : SUNDOWN 2007, I WILL BE TAKING THE PRODUCT ALONG MYSELF.
- - Compensation : FOR YOUR TIME, YOU WILL RECEIVE ONLY FAME, NO MONEY SORRY.
- - Technology : ABILITY TO USE OPENGL AND CREATE MODELS AND TEXTURES IN SOFTWARE AND CODE A SOFTSYNTH.
- - Talent needed : WE HAVE A MUSICIAN, WE WON'T BE HAVING ANY BITMAP GFX. I WILL BE WRITING THE MUSIC.
- - Team structure : ME AND YOU! I WILL BE MAKING THE MUSIC AND DESIGNING THE PROD, YOU WILL CODE IT.
- - Website : WWW.INCONTINENTS.CO.UK
- - Contacts : MAD_SHITBRAIN@INCONTINENTS.COM (after acceptance of project)
- - Previous Work by Team : POUET LINK 1 : POUET LINK 2
- - Additional Info : PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU WANT!
After you have made your post, please expect the questions to start. Any coder on this forum may ask you some
questions on the project, these are not to be conducted by email or msn or pm, anybody found to be breaking the rules
(coder or requester) will be banned irrevocably. The discussion must be completely public up until the time you both agree to work together!!
In turn, you may ask the coder any questions you feel relevant, the coder will provide you with links of things he has worked on
before if he is interested in the project in line with what was posted above.. In addition to this, it is a two way process
so please feel free to ask away!
When you both agree to work together, the project is then considered to be taken and no other coder on this board
may hijack the project. You should both post in the topic to say that the project is taken.
As is the nature of forums, people will find ways of taking the piss out of these rules, the protection of the programmers here from people who come on and want someone to code thier mmorpg etc is paramount, therefore, these rules will no doubt change over time.
[ EDIT - Due to lack of take up, the find a coder forum has been removed, you may submit requests in the General chit chat forum as per the guidelines above though! Thanks.]
