What should I use
« on: August 10, 2007 »
I got 2 different versions of a demo I'm working and I cant make up my mind which one to go with. you can download it here. The second version looks a bit messy, but it changes more. Could some of you let us know which one you prefer? Thanks.

@mike_g:
i think the question isn't so hard, because both exes are different... so you alone must know what you want to do and how your intro should look like.... should it look more like version1 or version2? The balls in version2 looks like a clearscreen is missing, because all balls will drawn on screen without removing....  in version1 seems to be an added clearscreen, because drawed balls will be deleted on old pos which looks more nice for me as version2...

At least, i think you should know what you want to code... how your intro should look like and what source is more readable / complete for you ^^ Just my opinion...

[edit]
possible you should create a 3rd version (new version) and copy/paste routines from the old two versions into the new one ^^ good luck

@mike:
What va!n says. They are or at least look like they are two different fx. If you like
them both - just add a smooth way how fx_one morphs/fades to fx_two.

In my book no question : test2, I actually had a whoaaaaa moment in there.

So test2. I suggest finding a way to not use pure blue as your background colour and if you can get rid of the AND/XOR texture for something less common.

Good luck, looks like it will be interesting...

I agree with Chris there, for one thing the colours look much nicer with test 2, it just seems to go a bit strange when the bar thing scrolls up the screen.

Hmm I was thinking of going with the first one actually, but I guess if I sort out the rest I could do 2 versions. Once I got code for one then its like a cut & paste job. I quite liked the blue Xor texture, but yeah I guess its probably been done a lot. I'll try and fix that weird thing with the fire too, and maybe clear the screen with the balls at the begining.  :)

Go with Test2 dude - nifty alpha bobs and SDL. Perhaps your colour bounds checking isnt working or you need to add one.

eg: WritePixel 0,0,Pal( index And 255 )

love the second one, especially the metalish green fire effect :)
