32 Byte Scrolling by Surprise!Productions
« on: September 27, 2007 »
Thanks to the topic that Stonemonkey started in the ASM forum, I wanted to make a 32 byte intro too :) In fact I've been meaning to do this for ages.

It's not as technical as Stonemonkeys intro, it only has one effect but I am pleased with it.

It's the Xor texture (again!) Scrolling.

I also released it on intro inferno;
http://www.intro-inferno.com/production.php?id=5811

and pouet;
http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=32274

Hehe, no doubt it will piss people off because it doesn't do a lot but I just wanted to make something so say I had done it.

K++ for sharing your efforts in asm coding / tiny .. tiniest coding ... :)

It's no problem Slippy :) It's not a serious attempt, I will be trying to come up with something more interesting soon after I have read some more tutorials....

Just dont be disappointed if you get the same reaction though shockie...32bytes is rarely given an ok time on pouet.

Cheers Chris :) I will still carry on with these things for a while at least, there are a few things I have in my mind that I would like to see how small I can make them go. Pobably there will be more efficient ways of doing them but I'll have fun with it for a bit!

Yeah. Don't mind for pouet comments. Like it because :

- motion
- 32b
- first production
- supplied source

Nice one, Shocky 'Asm-Coder dude ;-)

Hehe, can't believe that you have turned my *simple* xor texture example into a 32 bytes intro, nice for your first :clap: , but as you know, this isn't enough for places like pooeut :)

Thanks Rbraz.

You have been unbelievably helpful to me in so many of the things you've done! I hope to repay your kindness some day.

Your card doesn't support screen mode 13h that this intro uses by the sound of it Paul, you're really not missing much but if you are determined to make it work on your PC it will run happily in a DOS emulator like Dosbox.

I ran the program and good attempt to make in 32Bytes.
people who put thump down on you mean they trying bring you down.
Let see if they can code in ASM and it isnt easy to code in ASM.
People seem to forget that shocky havnt code in ASM for ageeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.(I think so...maybe I am wrong...)...but still...he still remmy in ASM somehow  ;D

It only Easy if person know how to do in ASM.

Welldone shocky...   8)

Anyone can code Hotshot, but not everyone codes well.

This is by no means a good program in 32 bytes, in fact you could argue that you can't really do much in 32 byte intros anyway and a lot of people think that they are pointless.

If you up it to 128 bytes however, you're in a different league and there are some guys with amazing skills like y0bi and Pirx that have made some real mindblowing stuff.

This was about the best I could have done and even this intro was only made after a thread full of people here were doing stuff in 32 bytes.. Rbraz even made a 32 byte xor texture, I just made it scroll... Go figure.

I'll stick to what I'm doing at the moment and leave the 32 byte small stuff alone :)
