TRANSITION CHALLENGE!

TRANSITION CHALLENGE

Welcome To the transition challenge!

How many times have you watched a really cool multi-part demo and been blown away at it's design and how each part translates beautifully into the next?
There are many many groups that achieve these beautiful transitions between parts, some are simple cross-fades between scenes, others are way more complicated.
A great example of a demo with excellent transitions is here : LIFE FORCE BY ASD Just take a look at how seamless this demo is.
And before you get worried, the challenge this time is not to make a demo as huge as lifeforce (though feel free to if you want), but to achieve some nice transitions.

You could code just one transition if you don't have a lot of time, you could code many!
You can code transitions between effects, or even pictures, it's up to you but the most beautiful ones will win!

Here are the rules!

  • Allowed Platform : Win32 PC. (if emulator used the emulator must be compatible with current win32 platforms).
  • Your entry must include at least one transition between a picture/effect , picture/picture , effect/effect, scene/scene.
  • Morphing text / effects count as transitions, for example a page of text that explodes into dots and forms different text is ok.
  • Any freely available emulator is allowed, IE. Winaue, Yabasic, Saint, Vice, Dosbox etc.
  • Any language that runs on Win32 (Including browsers / emulators) is allowed.
  • All entries to have a screen shot included please.
  • Up to 4 entries per person are allowed.
  • Ripped gfx/sfx are allowed, but please give as much credit as possible to the artists.
  • Please do not use ripped code without permission / credit.
  • No previously released work to be submitted.
  • Entries to be posted in this forum please with the title [trANSITION] entry name
  • Entries may be posted between NOW and Midnight of [30th March 2008]
  • The winner [S?] will be decided by a poll of forum users

Here are the prizes!

  • 1st Place - Amazon voucher for £25 - Sig - 25 Karma
  • 2nd Place - Sig - 15 Karma
  • 3rd Place -  Sig - 10 Karma
  • All entries get 2 Karma

So we are back onto our regular fodder of demo effect challenges, yes, this has been launched before the game challenge is over, but I am sure that we're all itching to get stuck into a new challenge by now.
Also, this one is so open ended, you can really let your imagination fly!

With this in mind, we have increased the maximum allowed entries to 4!
Good luck people! May the best transition win!

Wow! This is really interesting compo. There are several transitions ideas that I never tried and waited for a demo to do them, though now without necessary needing to finish a demo I can try some of them. Maybe I'll give it a go :)
