Broadband connection speeds..
« on: August 08, 2008 »
Lots of people get ripped off with thier internet connections.
It's fashionable to advertise conntection speeds of up to8mb broadband, I use Pipex, supposedly on a 2 megabit connection and yet this is limited by the speed of the BT line.

Practiacally this generally means;

Maximum upload speed of about 30 kb / sec
Maximum download speed of about 90 - 120 kb / sec

Those figures don't stack up as far as I can see... Usually it doesn't matter, but when I have had a few drinks and I want to browse Youtube for dross it's just not practical.

BT, Pipex, etc have got a cheek to sell a broadband service of "up to 8 mbs"  when that really could mean 56k if it came to that. They can say whatever they like and get away with it.
