Recently I've been wanting to watch some films and such on mathematical concepts that aren't really taught in schools. Things like the Fibonacci Sequence, Phi (golden section) and fractal geometry. I suppose mathematics that have interesting patterns and occur naturally. I really enjoy this kind of stuff but there are no resources for me locally. I know the BBC does documentaries on such things but I just can't get those vids for use on an American Cassette/DVD player. I prefer videos to books for visual based things. I'm not really into the notion of sacred mathematics but I do find some of these leisure mathematics to be quite fun. I'm looking for fact not fiction.

There must be hundreds of programs about mathematics by the open university.

The Open University is a great idea, it's been going for many years now and they offer degrees in a large variety of subjects. Because they are distance learning courses, they are supported by tapes and television programs, some of which I am sure you would be able to find on the internet.

Even the basics, like how base 10 works (100=1, 101=10, 102=100, etc) aren't explained in schools. Explaining this, and applying it to other bases such as 2 would nurture an early understanding of how computers work to some degree by some of the younger children.
