Time Challenge Voting.
« on: March 28, 2009 »
What a hard competition this time, the challenge was to represent time, as expected we had a bevvy of clocks, all of them are great, some represented the time digitally, others were analog and some others were representing time in totally unique ways.

Please take a look at them below to recap.

Once you have seen all the entries, all we ask is that you stick to the rules for voting below, we do audit votes.

  • Please vote for three.
  • Please look at all the entries before voting.
  • Please do not vote for your own work.

These rules are just to make sure that the challenge voting is fair for everyone.

Who will win this time?

Your vote counts!

Thank you once again to everyone who entered and for those of you who vote.
You have 6 days from now to vote.

Digital Watch Brawl

Combatking shows us a giant digital watch display while animated characters representing the members of this forum have a damn good punch up leaping over the digits and try to push each other off.

1K Clock

Da Fatstuff squeezes his time display into just one kilobyte, the time is displayed digitally and to give you some eye candy as well, he has also managed to fit in a cycling keftale style pattern with some cool codercolours.

Timne Bend

Hellfire decided to represent time in a different way, here he takes a model of a female torso with some nice lighting and moves the camera around the model, however soon the time morph comes in and actually every pixel in the display is displayed from a different point in the animation, the result is liquid looking and very unexpected.

Digital Soroban

Pixel Outlaw uses Soroban symbols to display the current time here, the display is vivid and different. This is over a backdrop that moves around with a scroller at the bottom where he explains it a bit.
It's a way of displaying time that I had never seen before and actually I wouldn't mind a watch like this.

Vectorlib Clock

Tindragon brings his software rendering library out of its box for an encore.
Here we have an analogue clock which is rendered with the TTD lib from a 2D perspective.
It's certainly nice to see the tin dragons lib being used again, it was a while since we last saw it.

Golden Clock

This clock is a nicely designed one, it is essentially a 3D clock which is viewed from some nice camera angles.
From the shape of the clock you would expect it to be an analogue one with it's round face but the digital display is projected into the middle somehow and it looks like a really posh executive job.

Timezone Clocks

This one is actually pretty useful.
Zawran decided to show the different time zones in various famous cities around the world, the times are all displayed on analogue clocks and it looks just like the kind of display you might find in an airport.

Lyfe Clok

This analogue clock is represented in wire frame, the second hand is made out of a fractal which changes over time as the hand revolves around the clock face.
Whilst this is going on a scroller spirals it's way around the whole thing.

PV3D Experimental Clock

Benny has a really different concept here in this Actionscript entry.
Various times are drawn onto sectors of a flat board which the camera moves around, the minutes and seconds are represented by two transparrent blocks moving over the board.
The effect is very different.

Timed

Littlewhite again supports our challenge with this nice entry.
Hours, Minutes and seconds are represented by three different coloured bands that extend vertically on either side of the screen.
In the center we get an artistically blurred digital time readout and also some scene poetry that makes you think about the meaning of time.

Will these also be put up on the news box? As I've been awake rather along time now, getting a bit sleepy. :D
