[LED] Led Tronic
« on: December 20, 2008 »
.: Led Tronic :.

here is my little contribution to this great LED competition. i had the concept/idea for this four days ago and so i  started to code this production. hope you guys like it ;)

[Edit]
This is my small contribution for the DBF LED Compo in 2008.
I come up with this concept, design and idea, four days
before the deadline O.O

Possible each effect may run in different speed on any
PC... but i hope its ok and you enjoy the demo a bit.

When having some more time, i will try to fix the speed
problem, so each effects work in same speed on any PC
without fps limitation, if possible.

Demo is running in 800x600 and using a 80x60 LED matrix and
features a 4x4 antialized scene-calclation, before the scene
will be drawn on the LEDs. Hope you can see this esp. on
corners and curves ;)

PS: d/l link updated

[Edit 2]
Big thanks must go to 'antibrain' for testing preview versions and giving me some very nice and cool feedback and inspiration!  8) Thanks again! Sorry, but in the hurry before the deadline i totaly forgot to list you in the readme for your feedback/ideas!

Hell yeah :) Very cool !

I loved the way colors are spreaded on faces, and that LED drawn on LEDs ^^

Very nice coding/prod va!n, a serious winner candidate there.

I love the tune, love the ladies, love the very well accomplished "oldskool" feeling.

If I must say something bad I'd say the xor-texture and 1mb size :)

Other than that it is completely off the charts and its own league.

./me demands this in 64kb (pls consider it in the future if you just have time, it would be p'fect!)

@all:
thanks for your nice feedback!  8)

@Praecor:
Thanks for your feedback and comments...
Yes, you are right about the cheap XOR textures ^^

About the filesize i have to say, that the exe ist not packed and i am not really happy with its size too:

- XM tune without Replayer ~ 350 KB
- All BMP images are ~ 919 KB

I could shrink the exe size a lot, when i would save the LED color datas for each image only, which would be just 1 byte for each LED. But all images like the womans are included as 320 x 240 x 32 bit images... so the LED datas will be generated at runtime as all the other scene datas too... Using the high resolution 320x240x32 bit for the images gives me a better looking AA effect for the complete screen-scene ^^

And the tune could be replaced by using V2 synth, i know ;)

So this demo would be possible without probs in max 64kb or less.. yes, you are right ;)
But just be patienced and wait for a possible 1k intro next days at the TUM... (hope i get it optimized in speed/size)

thanks for your feedback and best regards!

It would be absolutely fantastic to see this transformed into 64k sometime :)

Thanks to you by the way (more than thanking me, you did the hard work), this was so fine
a prod, it is just pure joy to see ones like this (rare!).
