Versatel:Loooooong time ago i had a contract at the german internet provider called "Versatel", which was okay for the first 6 month but after this time they suxxed like hell, days and sometimes weeks without internet and sometimes the same for the phone! So i canceled the contract and have still even today trouble with this bastards due fact of two unpayed bills, when i had absolutly no service (internet nor phone). However this is the past and i can really nobody, absolutly nobody recomment to use Versatel... Even todays clients of me with Versatel having really bad pings and slow internet! I payed for a 6 Mbit line but in real i had only about 1 Mbit when the line worked (never used WLAN for private use). Afaik the contract was for 24 month (2 years). Service/Hotline expensive and very bad!
Alice:First when this compnay started as a small company i was not really sure what to think about this compnay and i had no trust in it! Later, i think about 2 years ago, i moved from Versatel to Alice where i got a nice offer... I payed for a line up to 16 Mbit but the maximum was about 5 to 6 Mbit (changed from daystime). The reason i tried this company has been three reasons in following order: 1) Contract can be canceled every time, just 4 weeks before end of the month without any extra costs nor something else! 2) Up to 16 Mbit from the contract 3) Each month less money as the Versatel.
Unitymedia:Two weeks ago i thought about changing my provider and a lot of my clients are using Unitymedia where the internet works very fast and good! I keeped an eye on Unitymedia since about 2 years... Today i got my hardware when i have connected it with my computer... very easy installation, just only connect all hardware and cables... No UserID, No Registration/Password required... just works.... Contract is for 12 month... And yes, its costs even about 1/3 less as my old at Alice ^^
I was very interested to check out my new hardware and the results of my new 16 Mbit line... Here are the results and internetsite ware now really fast... Hope this will not change in future and hope that the services works fine.
Here are my first benchmarks:
