[WIREFRAME] wireframed
« on: May 28, 2011 »
Hello all, here's my 2nd wireframe entry. It's nowhere near my initial idea, but I think it turned out alright-ish. Let me know how it runs on your machine, because I know Flash is slooooow with drawing lines. Resize your browser window if it's too slow.

Click to move around
Arrow keys change speed and the nr of sides. DON'T GO BELOW 2, because it WILL crash and the whole www might just implode in on itself!

Runs nice and smooth here in Firefox and Chrome Kirl!

Nice tunnel, reminds me of Stun Runner a little (was that the kind of thing you were planning to do?).

Cool stuff! The in-tunnel scroller is a great idea. Music's nice too. Well done.

This is really neat!
It really has a great sense of depth as the letters spin and enlarge into position!

That's one busy funnel web spider ;)

The draw distance and resulting depth were great - I could see this as part of a tunnel racing game as you mentioned in the scrolling text, or as part of a circulatory system / digestive system guide in an educational program, just as examples - this would have many more uses besides.

The music was cool too - all round a great entry.

Thanks all, I don't like how the tunnel moves off center so quickly. It's because of how I did the curving while keeping the letters on the outside of it. There are lots of little annoyances like that left in, but they'll have to wait for another day.

@ shockwave
I'm not familiar with stunRunner, I'll use the google. ;)

I wanted to do a sort of game where you'd steer with the mouse to stay inside the tube. Even though I managed convincing movement and rotation they didn't exactly correlate with eachother and the rotation made the rings unevenly spaced. The 3d is completely faked and I use the scale of the rings as their z/depth value.

All in all it was more difficult then I expected, but one day I'll make this into a game.

I just checked out stun runner and it looked awesome! Might make this into a similar game soon. Thanks for the suggestion Shockwave!

I also embedded the flash in the original post as a sort of experiment. Added instructions (and a couple of forgotten test functions) below it.

It was a cool game that I remember from my teens.. :)

Please do include a zip of the stand-alone flash file though in case you win.

Cheers!

Haha, the music playing on the embedded SWF just scared the crap out of me. I closed everything down trying to find out where it was coming from :)

Runs nice and fast here. Looks cool too :)

The 3d is completely faked and I use the scale of the rings as their z/depth value.

Even so, it looks really good. This approach would probably be faster than calculating the 3D points in real time.
