What do you mean by job? If it's a coding job then you can go to http://getacoder.com or http://rentacoder.com.

Why should it be difficult for deaf people to find computer jobs - thats discrimination - shouldnt be allowed!
Good luck in finding a job - Im sure something will turn up.

Well, if you can type fairly quickly then there ought to be an opening somewhere for you, even if it is in data entry.
If you are registered as being disabled Hotshot, then it might be worth you approaching your local government agencies for a job in the Civil Service, they make it a policy to offer equal opportunities for disabled people so that might be a good place for you to start.

I think you should get in touch with your local government services, preferably write to their personnel departments and explain that you are registered disabled but you are looking for employment and see what happens.

Spoken to Mel (my missus), she works for the DVLA and thinks that a government would be your best bet Hotshot. I don't know about Learn Direct, that's just for education? It could lead to a job, but I'd try the government first.

well I have been keeping in touch with jobcentre for 6 months and to be honest...I am not impress with them as they can be TWO Face when they saying that they found job for me when they Havnt! If I was boss of their company and found out that they arent doing their job trying find jobs for deaf people....I would SACK them if they werent doing their Job Properly !!! I know two of other deaf people looking for Job for 1 yrs and still havnt got it.....I have been thinking that I dont want go on same boat as them

No offonce to those two deaf people that I know as it seem that I am more clever than them but that not the points.....the points is all about my CV and how good I am on computer wise such as Dreamweaver(website design), CAD( I have passed level 2 but it seem to me that I need get level 3 to prove that I am good enough) and programming ( I dont think I will get job for that as I need to get DEGREE for that....FFS....I know some of my other deaf friends who was in UNI college saying that I should be in UNI College for that but having said that....taking Programming like Computer science 2.1 or Software engineer is asking for trouble unless you or anyone really know inside out of programming.....I already know inside computer things)

So It all depend down to how many hours and wages things to me.....but CAD college things may appeal to me as I have good talk with my parents about it and they said go for it.  On other hand, I am 31...not getting any younger....I must get job this year even thought it look very unlikely unless I keep pressure on Jobcentre and keeping tab on them to make them think I am interesting getting whatever Computer job is as long as the wages is good. Having weekend off is would be bonus LOL  ;D

Sometimes you just have to take whatever job is there. For instance, I get up at 5:30 every morning to be in work by 6:30, I work in the sun, rain, wind, whatever and I have to carry some very heavy items which put a lot of strain on my joints.

I would absolutely love to have a job where I could go into a nice warm office environment and not have to worry about lugging wardrobes up flights of steps etc but unfortunately there are not that many jobs of that sort near to where I live and in any case, competition for jobs like those is harsh.

I would agree with you that Job centre staff can be a waste of time, so this is where you have to use your own initiative, this may sound harsh but don't forget that I have been an employer too. I would not think much of a person that a job centre has sent to me. I'd think that theat person wanted to have an interview so that he or she could carry on claiming benefit.

On the other hand, if somebody used their own initiative and wrote me a letter or came to see me in person and was dressed smart, was polite then I'd be much more enthusiastic about them.

I really think that if you wrote to 50 different government organisation human resource departments  explaining your disability and that you were looking for a job, it wouldn't matter what the job was, you'd just like to work there and could you come in for a chat, then you'll get a job.

These places *have* to employ a certain percentage of disabled and ethnic minority people so in fact you have an advantage over someone like me in as much as you'd certainly get more interviews. I've tried to get jobs in government and it can be quite difficult. I couldn't even get a job as a grave digger ffs!

It comes down to whether you really want to work and if you really want a job then you'll be prepared to take any opening and do whatever it took to get one. Your hearing disability won't stop you. If you write to 50 government orgs explaining your situation and you don't get an employment offer of some sort from it then I'll personally pay your postage myself! Just write to the employers directly  and stop relying on the employment service, you're wasting your time.
