I just came across another variant of BASIC called Emergence BASIC http://www.ionicwind.com/ (http://www.ionicwind.com/), they also have a more advanced C++ like language. The Basic variant is $35 and it seems capable. But since PureBasic is free, it might not be something for everyone.
