Title: My first Cobra Intro
Post by: GrahamK on March 19, 2007
Decided I just had to do one... :D

Download from here (http://www.squeakyduck.co.uk/downloads/IntroOne.zip)

Hope you enjoy it....

If anyone can suggest a source of music to use (legally) in my demos, I'd love to hear.

Thats cool, I really liked the colourful background with the star field. The wobbly text was a nice effect too :)

I'm not sure if its meant to be like this, but pressing escape dident seem to exit the prog so I had to alt+tab out of it.

Thanks for the nice comments.

Mike, didn't you have problems with the keypresses on my 20second intro too ?
I have (on rare occasions) had some people where cobra programs don't respond to keys/mouse. Gut feeling is that something on your machine is getting in the way (It's not something I've seen for a while, and I'm still trying to track down the final reason for it :( )

A reboot usually fixes it, which doesn't help debugging :(
If you have any info on OS version, any sort of screen grabbing or global hotkey type software you may have running it would be a great help.

I ran the prog twice to see if it wernt just a one off, but both times it wouldent respond to keyboard input including ctrl+alt+del.

My OS is bog standard winXP, with whatever updates it feels like installing. As for screen grabbing or global hotkey software I dont have any of that stuff running as far as I'm aware of.

Nope, it was Mike who noticed a problem with key presses.

Sorry missed that bit first time round. I dident have any problems exiting your 20 second demo, but I think the number keys wernt doing anything the first time that I ran it. I could have sworn that there were no effects when I hit the keys, yet when I ran it later it worked just fine ??? I'll run this prog again next time I reboot my PC. Like you said that may well sort it out.

Very good work Graham :D Thanks for the greeting too!
My favourite bit about the intro was the stretchy scroll.

If you're after public domain music, you can find lots here;

Also Modarchive (http://modarchive.org/index_1.php) is a good resource for tracker tunes.

I did look at modarchive, but I couldn't find any info on how they could be used, and really didn't want to take any chances..

Thanks for the suggestions tho, and encouragement.. It really does push me to make more :D

That stuff is PD Graham, as long as you're not making any cash off it I wouldn't think there's any chance at all you'd get into trouble as long as the artist was credited.  :)
