Exe and source attached. demok.exe packed with kkrunchy (8Kb), demou.exe with upx (10Kb).
The source is desperately abysmal, but it was put together really quickly. Demonstrates how to omit runtime library in Release mode.
HELP! No sound! Does anyone know the wherabouts of this tune and a tracker for it?
Jim
<edit - check out the later postings where I've added the music and full screen mode>
-
Beautiful conversion, I will nab the original music for you in a little while!!
Please though it needs a fullscreen mode so it can be seen in all its beauty!
-
Original tune is by Dezecrator, I just ripped it from the original intro, attached to this post :)
-
Awesome conversion, Jim. Well done!
And K++ for sharing the code!
-
Nice Work Jim , thanks for posting the source . :)
-
great conversion!
thanks for the source (GDI/Framebuffer, like my first version of skidrow, but I don't think this format support fullscreen? I used tinyptc for that)
-
Thanks for the music Shocky, expect an update soon. Definitely full screen mode will be in there. Can you believe I just forgot to do it?!

Tune and fullscreen mode as promised. Seems a bit buggier exiting :( Try Alt-F4.
Using uFMOD for playback, available here http://public.www.planetmirror.com/pub/sourceforge/u/uf/ufmod/?sort=name&order=desc (http://public.www.planetmirror.com/pub/sourceforge/u/uf/ufmod/?sort=name&order=desc)

phew...I don't know how you do that...
(I have linker error with _maincrtstartup, how to translate _asm in c...many many things to learn)
Edit : even with alt+f4, the process is still alive (need to kill it with taskmanager)
-
Exited fine here Jim :)
Great job mate! Can I upload this to II ?
-
Yeah. The tune definately rocks and makes the intro even better.
Very well done, Jim. And its interesting and very good to look and
learn through your code...
-
great stuff jim you tempted me to fire up visual c++ again and it really is lovely code!
-
Good one Jim
-
Yeah this is great :)
-
Excellent one too! wow, the contest is impressive...i guess we'll have the whole flashtro's converted by the deadline ;D
-
Exactly like the original good entry
-
Thanks for the good comments!
Can I upload this to II ?
No problem. If you like I can make a new version to add the text to advertise the find-a-coder forum?
Alt-F4 will hang, use Escape or F2 to exit.
Jim
-
Added to II, it had a link in two places to here anyway mate!
Great conversion by the way.
-
with both f2 or esc, process still alive
(perhaps add an EndProcess(0)...)
-
If it can be fixed I will edit the file on Intro-Inferno.
-
it shuts down here ok xp service pack 2.
i really like that youve left your conversion functions for the xm and bmp it shows just how to build exes with internal resources and how to use ufmodso cheers and have some karma.
-
I really liked this one when I saw it on the flashtro site, nice 1 Jim for making it :)
-
Cool a demo by Jim, nice one dude :)
-
Thanks guys!
->Shockwave - I'll be fixing it, the bug's in ufmod not in my code - it calls the right functions to shutdown, but it's just dropping through waiting for the sound thread to exit...Either that or ExitProcess is looking like the solution, though that's a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

That very good one...keep good work up
-
Man this is a great conversion...
It should of been 1st ahhah...
Well done.. Im excited to stumble across a whole intro remake crew... im blown away...
Need to dust off the coding fingers.... ;)

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it :) Welcome to the forum!
