I don't know how it is in other countries, but here in the UK there are a lot of people who are nothing more than legalised thieves. I class these people as even worse than the fake Psychics that you can find in various places, such as funfairs, spiritulist meetings and television channels.
I am talking about Aromatherapists, Acupuncturists, Homeopathists, osteopaths and most hypnotists.
In the UK, most of these professions can get themselves a mickey mouse diploma and set themselves up in business.
Someone I know very well for instance is being ripped off by an osteopath, this person has a bad foot, the osteopath will get about 10 consultations for this at about £30 a go, in the meantime the person who is affected will be in pain for 10 weeks and then when the affliction gets better of it's own accord, the osteopath will get the credit.
Has anyone else here been ripped off by one of these people? Or maybe someone here has genuinely got some relief from one of these proffessions.
I'm a believe it when I see it sort of guy, I am mentioning this because I suffer a little bit with my back from time to time, it gets better on it's own usually and it made me think that had I been going to an osteopath that I would have attributed my healing not to my own bodys reparation system, but to some charletan who would no doubt give me a damn good fleecing.
And actually I wouldn't mind betting that some of these people make the problem worse so that they can carry on milking thier cash cow.
Remember dentists doing NHS work that was not needed so that they could claim the money.

I did my back in at work and went to the chiropractor (sp?) even though i was full of painkillers when i went in i couldn't walk normally. After half an hour massage she asked me how it was but because of the painkillers I couldn't feel anything and didn't know but when I stood up i didn't have any problems walking. The best thing with a problem like that is to keep it moving and the massage eased it enough to let me do that so it did help.
I don't think I'd trust them with anything other than minor muscular problems like that though.

Load of bollox.

A lot of stuff in life depends on your mental state. If you are a miserable shit you are more likely to die. I'm generally skeptical and find it very hard to believe in most of this stuff so its not much use to me, but other people find it helpful. The way I see it if they find it helps them in some way it may be better than nothing. For example I know 2 people that had acupuncture for different problems, neither of whom I would consider gullible. They both reckoned it was great. I don't see what good sticking pins in people does, but then I have never experienced it.

I consulted an accupuncturist payed out £300 for 15 consultations. The accupuncture was O.K. Because I was relaxing (something I rarely do) but the massage after was pure hell. I think the Doctor? was using me to give vent to all his pent up emotions. Or maybe he thought I was a
4ft 11inch 8stone rugby scrum half. I started off with aching limbs. :crutches: I ended up with aching limbs, torso, and was £300 lighter :whack:

Hmm.....well I've been very lucky most of my life so far and not suffered with many ailments except for a foot problem back in 2003 which was not cured by visiting my GP. In fact all my doctor could do was prescribe pain killers which I was on for 6 months....with no improvement!!!!!!!
It was suggested I see an oesteopath - something that I would never have dreamed of myself but, when you've been in pain for 6 months and numerous doctors have said "they cannot help, just keep taking the pain killers".....I thought I'd give it a go. Within a few treatments my pain had eased enough for me to put my weight on my foot and until I reached the end of my pregnancy I never had another problem. Unfortunately, it has now come back, but in the other foot :o
So yeah I'm having treatment again for it and have had 6 sessions so far. There is no way this time I am going to be popping pills for 6 months and being told by these supposedly qualified doctors and consultants they can't do anything for me but prescribe pain killers.
Then again, I should be resting my foot too but how the hell do you manage that when you have a baby and 9 month puppy to run around after ::) Perhaps shocky would like to take some unpaid leave and look after everything at home while rest my foot? :-*
I don't always agree with what others do but its their live. It has to be said someone I know very well tells me "I do what I want and don't care what others think" ;)

How does that help feet?
-
Pick an answer ;
1: You rub the cream in between the toes.
2: It does as much good as Osteopathy (ie. None at all).
Or actually these things work by making the purse / wallet lighter and easier to carry and therefore relieve pressure on sore joints.

It's a conspiracy to get me in trouble for taking Singers arcade trophies in your name.
I can't see anyone being gullible enough to fall for that ruse.
That's unbelievably sly.

I'VE NEVER BEN AS GULLIBLE AS YOU BLOODY WELL THINK I AM.
DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHERE THAT VERY HOT PEPER SAUCE IS. I DO.

All I am saying is lay blame where it is due and don't type all in capitals it's against the board rules.
-
Which board do you mean ? The blackboard or the school board (man)
:-*

Not allowed to call them b***kboards anymore.
-
Negroboard. BarPERSON.
-
Calling a black guy a Negro is apt to get you into a fight Loopy :) I don't reccommend it.

I'm spanish. Anyway, black people are my alternately-coloured friends.
