Title: daXX GFX Showroom
Post by: daxx on July 15, 2007
Hi there...

I'm daXX from Germany. I'm 30 years old and the founder of "TheRavebusters"... Maybe some of you know it from Amiga :)

Here's a little reference of my gfx work: (its not all...)

That is without a doubt the most impressive archive of scene art I've ever downloaded.

My favourite piece is the Tristar "Born to burn" logo. It's difficult to pick one though to be honest, every piece is something that you should be proud of! I think I focussed on that logo because it reminds me of J.O.E's famous TRSI logo, only yours looks better. Maybe it is an unfair comparison to make because of the different platforms and screen resolutions but I think your version has more style.

:-\  too many (obvious) PhotoShop filters to my taste, but some are cool. I like the idea of the TSCC logo.

daxx: Come on, you know what I mean. One can clearly see filters and tools like smudge on some of your work.

Yeah the smudge tool is indeed used in 1-2 logos :) but did you know that this smudge tool was available on deluxe paint too ? :) it is an old feature :) but don't worry... i'm not pissed about your comment about filters :) because i know, that you can be creative with the smudge tool and create from a simple one color thing a nice effect with it...

much more sucked is to use cinema4D or other 3D tool and insert some noise/pixel/effect later with photoshop on it to call it "pixeled gfx"  :buddies:

Ghost.. Yeah.. the result is important. that's true...

Edit: Btw... your Tomb game is killer !!!!! impressive stuff.. i've never seen a game in dhtml? javascript?.. that's omg...

I completly forgot it was in Deluxe Paint :p Heck it was even in the ST version. One feature I loved in DPaint was we'd know call a burn/dodge. You defined a range of colors. Left click 'increased' the color of the pixel, right click 'decreased' it. Really cool to tweak the lighting and texture of a logo/image.

Per se I'm not opposed to the use of 3D tools. But if one calls that 'pixel', it better be seriously revamped pixel per pixel. Never did that though.

Thanks for 3D TOMB II.
