Call of duty 4!
I bought it yesterday and I've been playing it pretty much non-stop ever since.. I have completed it on easy level but there are unlockable things, an arcade mode etc. The arcade mode is excellent.
Also the dynamics of the game are great.
In Call of Duty 3, I always wondered why I couldn't shoot people through doors and walls, the physics were inconsistent, in the new game the physics are much better, you can shoot pots and plates, shoot pictures off the wall, shoot through wooden crates, tin sheetings, thin walls and kill enemies behind them.
It's really a step up from the last game.
Also some of the new styles of mission are fantasic, playing as a member of the SAS with night vision goggles is awesome, as is being a gunner in a hercules gunship at night looking throught thermal imaging equipment at the enemies and watching them die!
It's really like all those video clips that were on the 24 hour news channels during the Iraq war.
The only criticism is that the game is a little bit short but it is definately up there in my top 5 of all time.

Just bought a XBOX36o. Atm I am playing Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six Vegas - but
already heard about CoD4 and it really seems to be very impressive. It is definately
on my TOBUY list ;-)

Well, I just found out I have won a PS3 in work with 2 rubbish games. I am going to trade them in for COD4 and one other. Only downer is, I have to wait until next week some time to pick it up :(
Was going to get assassins creed, but the reviews have slated it a bit!

Bought CoD4 for PC on its release date and I used to play it nonstop!!!
Unfortunately I'm finished with it now ... just can play in Arcade mode ... but this is not as thrilling as the main game ...
I wish I had a XBOX360 but my wife would freak out if I buy myself one ;)

I had the same argues with my girlfriend. I couldnt convince her that a
XBOX is nothing bad or evil. She didnt believe me. I bought it anyway.
My luck I bought the XBOX pack including FORZA2 and Viva Pinata. The
latter game saved my relationship - she likes and plays it a lot :

Hehe ... perhaps I could argue with that ... just watched the screenshots of Viva Pinata on the official site ... they look awesome :)

I am lucky there I guess :) My girlfriend actually encourages me to buy things for myself, sucha as game consoles, video cards, console games etc.

I would consider purchasing one if they had better Japanese support. I needs my shmups. Not to mention the stories of faulty hardware and the price tag. I feel that Microsoft as a company has poor support for publishing innovative games. I'm all for innovation that stems from unique game play. Personally I feel that in recent years "gamers" are responsible for the slew of mundane FPS and RTS games. Instead of difficult action you are presented with a mildly interactive 80 hour long game with little to offer. The modern "gamer" is a 15 year old who thinks games should not challenge but hold your hand through a 50 hour long interactive movie. My theory is a game should kick you in the balls then throw you through a full sized double pain glass window and continue to do so until you learn to be a better player. Heaven forbid a child fails at anything anymore why what if little Billy was to feel inadequate playing a game! Surly deep emotional scarring and internal pride issues would develops in later years.
My point is that games are all flash and no bang. Microsoft seems to have limited support for innovative developers. If you don't like sports games or FPS games I see little reason to buy a 360.

If you are thinking of buying GTA, play.com are doing a good limited edition box set. Comes in a safety deposit box with all sorts of other stuff.
