Title: Where to get Freebasic.
Post by: Shockwave on May 02, 2006
If you've just happened on this and want to get your hands on Freebasic, you can get it from;
www.freebasic.net (http://www.freebasic.net)

The benefits of it are that it produces small exe files and if you use the tinypct lib, they UPX down real small and the speed is up there with the best too.

The best download link would be the FBIDE because it installs everything for you, though you are not tied to using this editor if you don't want to.

Best of all FB is free.

A silly (and usual question :( ) : where to start?  I mean, I never tried it and would like to.  Ok, I'm a bit lazy hehe...Is there some cool links for beginners you would recommend?

Ok, have you installed freebasic?
What programming experience do you have?
If you give us some ideas of what sort of stuff you want to do we can either explain how it's done with example source code or link you into the right tutorials.
The main thing to do is ask ask ask.
The more questions you ask us, the more you'll learn.

And if you use windows, and want the latest CVS update, head to Qbasic.com and there's my daily update of the compiler in the files area.

Ah, whatever.  Here's the link to save you some trouble: http://www.qbasic.com/wbb/filebase_entry.php?entryid=77&sid=
:P

It should be noted that you must already have FreeBASIC installed to use the update files.  You just copy and paste the Daily CVS updates over your old files.

[ bump post ]
It Would be cool if everyone who uses FreeBASIC are using the same version as each other, i am on Version 0.20.0 Beta. Will check the official site for an newer version. This will avoid compatability issues with new libs etc. And they wouldnt do updates if it didnt fix things and improve stability etc. If you dont agree, then no worries.
