This is a reworking of an earlier concept of mine and will be the first of my two games. The original game was designed and made in my old Game Maker days.
This is just a sneak peek for now expect more flash and bang with the final release.
Concept match the color of the center ball to the color of the nearest ball.
Simple? Yes!
Easy? Not all of the time.
You have two colors that are changed while the directional buttons are held and one default color.
This is just a taste of the finished game. Just a sort of "look at me" moment.

Totally cool game you made there. I really like the simply and
addicitive gameplay. Looking forward for final version with
maybe some sound in it ?
Great job!
-
hah.. it took me like 2 minutes in my extra weird hallucinogenic state to figure out what the game was about, and how to control it.. now i just have to perfect it.. buuut i'll leave that to another day when im less.. intoxicated :D
awesome idea and very well executed..
edit: though the game is absolutely FUBAR.. its brilliant :D

3 buttons...esc=exit
-
Exit isn't exactly a control! :P There's no problem with that.

What a great concept for a game :)
Thanks very very much for the preview!
-
Very clever cant wait to see what else you put in this
-
I also like the concept :inspired: mate, great.
-
Its a cool game that for sure - but remember without demo type effects you cant get full marks, so I suggest using February to do that.

Indeed :) There's a lot of demo maniacs to impress here too :)
-
Yep, some sort of "tunnel effect" would fit very well on your game :)
-
Thats really cool, and a great concept!
Looking forward to see what your gonna add :)
-
Thanks for all the nice commentary guys. I'm adding plenty of eye candy now and working on a high score system and some sounds. The little demo I posted was really bare bones. Just making sure people can run it and like the concept, testing the waters. :D This game will be finished. It ensures that I have an entry, should my other game take too long to complete.

Looking good feeling good!
-
Hahahahaha!!! So simple and fun! It's great how the rules shape the simplicity of the games.
-
Hmm got the solid gradient fonts going today. Sinus scrolling and such. I think it looks classy.
Currently there are two different but similar game modes. B is pure hell. I probably won't release this for about 2 or 3 days. Still looking for a sound effects and music person.
-
I lied. I don't know if I can find anyone to do music so I'm going to release it now in hopes that I will find a composer.
Still pretty decent without sound, I hope. Please say if it runs slow or doesn't run at all.
You push left for Game A and right for Game B.

very nice game! i like it! would be nice if you can fix following things for final version:
1) score.dat / score2.dat
if this 0 byte sized (empty) files are not available, your game crash! just check if the files are available. If yes, just load the scores and if the files are not available, try to create them but without crashing the game.
2) instruction:
the first time i tried your game i did not really understand what the user have to do and how to play it! i only noticed to change the color of the catching ball in the middle while pressing cursorkeys! i needed some time to understand the game and how it works and what the player have to do! Would be nice if there is a instruction text in the game (after choosing A or B mode, or just directly when starting the game)
3) moving objects:
mode a seems is playable and not so hard at all. mode b is a bit strange. objects are sometimes confused movings that its unpossible to play/win (maybe so small distance to the next ball and possible sometimes to fast!?)
4) music:
i still have some very very old 4channel (chip) tunes i composed on my amiga days. if you are interested and like a tune, you
may be feel free to use it.
keep on ya nice work! nice game!

I'm confused about the problem with the two score files. They should load correclty when the game starts. It works on my system. I'll see what I can do though.
Mode B is a bit confusing at first but in theroy the colors should never hit the center at the same time. They are created in incriments and each one shortens their distance with each cycle. Because they all have the same starting distance, and no more than one is ever created at a time this should not be a problem.
Thanks for your offer, I think that I have found a composer though. Hopefully I can iron out all of the kinks. :suicide:

Wow. That's totally awesome Pixel_Outlaw. The enhanced gfx
and menu totally rocks. Very very cool game indeed !!!

@Pixel_Outlaw:
Also the game runs fine everytime when both files exist! But i think its not a good idea to share/spread a game with two 0 byte sized score files! Another point is, when just copy only the exe (without the empty scorefiles), to an own folder and trying to start the game, it crashes. Thats why i would like to check if the files are available. If not, just create them, else load existing files ;) thats all. good luck for the compo!

Pretty good idea for a game :)
Needs some demo-ish effect now!
Pixel Outlaw ftw!
-
Very much improved. Very consistent oldskool graphics feel to it. I'm impressed.
-
Yep, you did it really nicely. Keep the good work.
-
That is really really challenging!
Great concept :) Looks good too.
