Title: [2BUTTON] Penny Traitor
Post by: Jim on February 21, 2008
Some of the oldies here might remember this one
http://jimx.is-a-geek.net/2keys.zip (http://jimx.is-a-geek.net/2keys.zip)  BlitzBasic Source+EXE
Keys are Q and P.  I'll let you work out which key does what.
Can you get past level 14?

Jim
PS. Not very demoish and not really finished, but I had to post :)

<edit>added a fresh attachment

Yay! Scramble :D

It's really clever how you got it to work with two keys!

Very addictive game. Something like an updated version of
caveflight / copper game. Very good.

The game is amazingly clever to control with the two keys.
I like the fact that both key are controlled by different hand!

Not very demoish - but very retro. Like the style!

I remember coming home one night with a couple of mates after infinite beers, and bragging that I was pretty good at this game and then thrashing it, going from start to end, hitting the fuel dump, and then back from end to start without losing a life on a Spectrum emulator running at at least double speed.  Absolute corker of a game and one of my all time faves.  I'm so sorry I didn't do a front end and sfx for this comp.

To my disgrace, I have forgotten to credit all the graphics to the original artists at Melbourne House - well done guys, with one colour you did more than Sega managed with Gb of graphics on Sonic 3D for PS3.

No, no I really can't. However I will need RSI treatment from trying. Was the green on Spectrum that bad? I dont remember it now. Ugh.

Looks like my server has crashed while I'm on holiday :(  I can't fix that 'til Sunday - if anyone fancies putting the archive up on Rapidshare or similar for me that would be great.

Thank you Benny. I loved Scramble arcade version, particular gameplay. The game got the most interresting use of the keyboard, and it's very well done. A pitty you couldn't finish it and add some demo fx, but still great mate.

I really think this turned out nice. Good job.  :updance:

I think the collicion detection is slightly off for the ship, the hit box seems wider than the sprite.

Mmm. I'm thinking that it uses Blitz's collision routines so they are probably correct..

It's just using the ship's rectangle, so yeah, it's off a bit.  I had a great idea about blitz's collision detection to collide with the wigly landscape but it broke when I put in the background colour changing :(

Thanks Benny for hosting, I'll be home tomorrow :)  Right now I'm sitting in The Twisted Hop micro-brewery in Christchurch using their free wireless ;D
