Right, heres the score. For a long time now, Gravity have been on the look out for musicians to accompany our prods. Lots who've replied to ads, are after money. So, I've got myself the marvellous Fast Tracker 2 hybrid for PC "Skale Tracker", and wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction for dabbling at tracker tuneage.
I'd like to know any tips, places where to get samples and what works best. As well as any tutorials / guides on starting off, what to avoid. And I dont care wever their simple bits of info, it all helps. And hopefully Clyde can get composing.
Cheers and many humble thanks,
Clyde.

If it's samples you're after then Modarchive would probably be a good place to start.
Careful about giving credits if you take samples from someones song as some musicians go to a lot of trouble to create them.
You could try looking on Aminet too for the sample disks, ST-01 - ST-?? I'm sure you'll find plenty.
As for writing the tunes, I would be of no use as I'm;
A: Tone Deaf.
B: Hopeless at tracker programs.

You can also save a sample from a mod/xm in Skaletracker, Go to Disk Options, click on the left side on 'Sample' and choose the sample you want. It'll be saved as a .wav
@zparticle: Great links, Thanx

I remember messing around with trackers on the Amiga, Med and Octamed were my favourites but I had loads of versions of Soundtracker, Protraker etc. Never really found a PC one that I could get to work that I liked, will give this one a look :)

Madtracker is quite similar to Pro-tracker on the Amiga Jon, I believe it's a free download too.

Hello :) this looks like an old post but there aren't many in this forum so what the heck - here's some info. :)
Clyde, if you fancy some tips on getting into tracking check this forum's stickies etc...: modarchive - tracking (http://www.modarchive.com/db/boards2/viewforum.php?f=5)
The discussions weigh more in info than the original post in many of the cases.
:buddies:
Oh and I recommend you check out the multi-platform Fast Tracker II clone: MilkyTracker (http://www.milkytracker.net/) - it's in active development still too, the coder and supportng guys have an IRC community if you want to join in and chitchat.

Cool, and thankyou for the info Mod dude :)
Cheers and all the very best,
Clyde.
