Title: I Have A Non-Programming Problem
Post by: PapaSmurf on July 11, 2008
I was working on a database the other day when my Taskbar just vanished. I am running Windows XP SP2 and I did not hide the Taskbar myself. I have tried everything I can think of to get it back short of reinstalling WinXP. I know this problem occurs sometimes with SP3 but I have not downloaded it. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

                                                       Thanks,
                                                          Ken   ;D

Hmm ... maybe it's worth a try to change screen resolution.
Dont know if it helps - but maybe position of taskbar is re-
calculated and you see the taskbar again ?

Try ctrl+alt+del and choose task manager.
Then click on New Task and type explorer, and press enter.

Or maybe your task bar has been set to hide when not in use (by a trickster in your workplace) - to fix this, you can move your cursor to the bottom of the screen, then drag it back to position.

Though you'll have probably tried these, I'm guessing.

Here are a couple of things I found on the web:

This is a suggestion I found:

Code: [Select]
One possibility is that Explorer
>has crashed. Press CTRL, ALT, DEL, and go to the Task Manager. Click the Processes
>tab to see if Explorer is running. If it is, click on each (if more than one) Explorer
>process and click End Process and OK. Then click the Applications tabe and click
>New Task. Enter "Explorer" and click OK. This shoud be tried after the other common
>solutions have been tried such as the task bar being hidden, etc.

This page has a bunch of fixes for various things, the first one they link to is a visual basic script (which you should be able to run by double clicking it)

Does the task bar appear when your mouse over the space where it should be? If so then the solution is in control panel -> appearance and themes -> Task Bar and Start Menu
then uncheck the box for auto hide the task bar

Well my taskbar problem has been fixed. I tried all suggestions but the one that worked was by 'zawran'. Thanks to TaskbarRepairToolPlus! that was suggested. I downloaded this tool, entered my problem, hit fix, and it repaired the problem instantly. I highly suggest getting this tool, it's easy to use and works great. There's a free version or you can get a liscense for only $5.00 which unlocks all features. Needless to say, I bought a liscense.

                                               Thanks All,
