Okay, this isn't my planned third attempt, it's just something I had a play with. I can't put a scrolltext in it or anything that would stop you from following objects up the screen as it would destroy the effect. As a result, I'm not sure it would benefit from music either.
Anyway, the screenshot gives the game away as to how it works. There is no palette switching, no flashing colours, just four colours, black, red, green, and blue.
It doesn't need a seizure warning but if you watch it for long enough, I wouldn't advise walking or trying to do any fine motor control for a few minutes as your eyes will still be trying to look up.
[EDIT] I forgot the darker shades of red, green, and blue. I've modified the exe and screenshot to reflect the change. I don't think it can count as 10 actual colours though.

Nice example how colorfull 4 colors could be.

It works well :) I bet you could get even more colours using this technique too!

Yes this is a good example of 50-50 dithering. Well done.
You are not limited to 2 tone dithering either so throwing in another color would give you even smoother spectrum gradients.

Well, using this trick, you can only use two colours for mixing. I initially forgot about adding black to the mix, so I've made that change so we get a darker red, green, and blue.

Wow if it werent for the screenshot I would think that there were a lot more colours this technique is very effective and very original. Great idea there buddy

nice optical illusion. BTW, if you search a bit through the internet pages about optical illusions you will find tons of ideas, especially will a reduced number of colors (2,3,4). There are plenty of tricks to give the illusion of more colors, like using moving primary (R,G,B) or secondary colors (cyan, magenta, yellow) on a neutral gray to create the illusion of their opposite...

A well-known, but good technique to get more colors. This shows it nicely in practice.
