Hey you lot.
Just thought I would let you all know that you may not be seeing too much of my big brother for a little while.
He had a fall in work Today and has managed to break his leg! As I type this, he is in hospital waiting to have screws, pins and other pieces of mecano fitted to make him all better.
I'm sure normal service will be resumed when his leg is in less bits!
-
What ? that's bad news.
Please greet him and I hope he get well soon !!!
-
Gutted for him after all the crap he's had to put up with in work and just as everything is sorted this happens. :(
Send him our best wishes and if he needs anything give us a call
:'(
-
Get well soon Shockwave! :(
Sombody give the man a laptop so he can communicate with the interwebs via laying down!
-
Poor Shocky...
Best wishes and a quick recovery!
-
What a royal bugger and a shock, and please pass on my well wishes.
Hope he's not out of action for too long.
Cheers,
Clyde
-
I'm sure he would be happy to know you are all thinking about him.
As soon as we know any more we'll let you know.
Russ
-
Wow! What shitty news! Get well soon matey - we will certainly miss you on here!
Regards
Andy
ps If he needs anything please shout!!!!
-
Right then.....
He was delivering a parcel and slipped on a path. This caused him to break both sides of his ankle. He is going to have a plate one side and a pin the other.
The op is set for tomorrow afternoon as long as he doesn't swell too much.
Poor shocky! :crutches:
-
Ok Russ thanks for keeping us imformed mate.
Time for a change of career me thinks. :-\
-
Get well soon.
Has he chosen a leader while he is incapacitated, or should we elect one?
Just in the interests of keeping order around here.
RIOT!
-
:whack: :whack: Don't worry about keeping order, I'm sure he will find some way of logging in.
-
Thanks for posting Russ, it was something that Nick asked me to do when I left the hospital earlier.
He seems in good spirits considering. I just had to buy him a load of food as he hadn't eaten all day, and the most they could offer him was chicken sandwich made with 2 rounds of bread. I would imagine he's tucking in as I type this :)
I don't think he will be away long as op tomorrow and he could be out the day after. I think he's looking forward to the 6+ weeks of being home, just so he can use the lap top all day every day ;D
-
Indeed bad news. I wish you the best and get well soon :)
-
OMG, that's very bad news :(
I wish all the best for you Nick and get well soon mate

Hi Guys Time for an update on Shocky. :crutches: He's had his op, and is back in the ward.
He greedy sod had four breaks in his ankle, they have pinned it and put in a plate.
(Not a dinner one) He is in a plaster cast, Mel said he seems bright enough and
has just left him with some supplies.I don't think the food is as good as home cooking.
We obviously don't know when hewill be home, but I'm sure you will know almost as
soon as we do.
Thanks for all the good wishes.
One of us will keep you up-to-date.
Carol

Cheers for the info and hope the plate wont have to stay in.
All the best

Wow man, that really sucks, I hope the healing goes well.
On the plus side, you have made the first steps to becoming a cyborg.
-
MMM Cyborg . . . that sounds cool - perhaps he can star in a fighting movie now?
He could be the star of terminator 4 . . . if it was me it would be urinator - a trip to the toilet! lol!
Andy
-
Or perhaps "The Perminator".
O0
Instead of buying guns he raids the salon for weapons.
-
Sh*t! That's real bad news, get well soon Shocky! You have a good time at Sundown and this is what you end up with, bah. :telloff:
Pass on regards from myself and the others at OldskoolUK
I smell a compensation claim coming on....
-
Hello its me again.....just got back from visiting Shocky in the hospital.
He is in very good humour. Apparently he had been making a delivery
when he slipped on a wet path. He has broken the bottom of his shin,
and smashed three other bones in his ankle. He was opperated on yesterday,
and he opted for a spinal anasthetic, which meant he was awake for the whole
procedure. He has a plate fitted to the front of his shin. That will stay there
for life. He also has a screw holding the pieces of his ankle together until
they mend. The plaster cast has been opened at the front because his
foot swelled up last night. Other than that there's nothing wrong with him.
I've kept him up to date with messages, He is hoping the Doctor will allow
him to have a proper cast on tomorrow, and send him home.
Bye for now I'll be back. :)
-
Thanks for keeping us up-to-date.
Hope that he will be back home soon. I think recovery is best
when you are home.
-

Fingers crossed he'll be back home where he belongs soon.Been sorely missed. :kewl:
Thanks for the update Carol :)
-
Poor Shockie, rest easy and take it easy dude :)
Cheers,
Clyde.
-
Thank you for wishing me well. All in all I have had better weeks ;)
I am now home, I won't bore you with the details but I really appreciate the good wishes.
I do have some necessary health considerations to take into account, mainly that my circulation in my foot is a bit strange now so I can only cope with short times with my foot below hip level, so I won't be posting a lot until I start feeling a bit better. The op went well though and I have a shiny set of new crutches to play with :D :crutches: Really tired now so I am going to check my email, retro-remakes and then go to sleep :)
Take care,
Shock.
Ps. Thanks Hotshot for taking the pacman trophy ;) I'll be trying to get that back!
-
Welcome back Nick! Good to see you are home! Best wishes to you and yours.
Andy
-
Great to hear from you Shockwave dude.
Hope the hip doesnt give you too much jip.
Cheers and best wishes on your recovery,
Clyde.

@Shockwave: Really sorry to hear about your mishap mate. I hope the road to recovery will be as fast and painless as possible.
-
Good to hear that you are back :hi:
-
Welcome back, mate!
-
Thanks fellas :)
It's nice to be back. I am hopefully going to get the comp together today. Just made a little tutorial to help people rip resources from amiga demos.
-
:hi:
Good to hear you're fine! Remember to take some rest between every coding session! ;D
Be Seeing ya mate!
-
Awful news sorry to hear this Shockwave. get well soon bud
-
Hey Shocky,
seeing you work so hard on the portal - just wanted to know how your
recovery is going ? Hope everything is going better day by day for you.
And moving from one room to the other with a cup of coffee is getting
better now ;-)
All the best.
benny!
-
Coffee relay is something I am getting great at now :)
Carrying a full cup of anything is pretty difficult on crutches so using one crutch, taking a step and moving the cup forward on the floot one step at a time is an art ;)
Recovery.. Hmm. Well I had the staples removed from my leg last Friday, I have this plaster cast for another 4 weeks, then I'll have a different cast that I can hopefully put a little bit of weight on. Four weeks after that I think I'll need another small operation to remove some of the steel in my ankle.
I'm used to it now, I can manage a sitting of about an hour and a half before I need to rest my leg so I tend to code as much as I can in that time and then watch a bit of telly :)
Life's not so bad.
I do find that the worst thing is being at home and worrying about when my sick pay will stop and not being able to do anything about it tbh.
The portal will help keep my mind off it though. I am enjoying it :)
-
Glad to hear that it's getting better, Shocky.

...
Don't know the political/health situation in the UK, but I hope that there are instances
that do care for that. I'll keep my finger crossed. Maybe you have the chance now to
get a PHP/Webdeveloper job. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
-
SSP is about £70 per week, that's not a lot of money really.. I think we'll be ok for a while though.
The hosting here is paid for for quite a long time anyway ;)
-
How are you feeling / coping now dude?
Hope things are on the way up for you and your family,
Clyde.
-
Thanks Clyde, that's kind of you to say :)
I am going shopping tonight, it's only to Morrissons but it's a real treat! Hehe I haven't been outside for ages.
Still can't get around very well but I'm on the mend I think mate.
"The family", especially Jacob are keeping me busy.
-
Thats great to hear, it's good to get out of 4 walls once in a while.
Good to hear the family are keeping you entertained.
Cheers,
Clyde.
