Okay, that was insane, but I think I've finally cracked it.... hopefully.
(waits for people to run it and point out the obvious bits he missed)
-
ok...I tried to find a pixel that was misplaced.. did not succeed.. but I'll look deeper!
seriously, this is simply wonderful! I'm impressed!! a great candidate here. Thanks a lot for such as nice conversion

A fitting tribute to a great intro.
You picked a difficult one there Xalthorn and you did an extremely accurate job of it. It's going on Retro-Remakes now.
Thank you and good luck in the voting!

That was one damn difficult piece (for me anyway), but it didn't look that hard when I chose it.
I thought,
"lots of transparency, could be fun"
"Proportional scroller, yeah, I can do that"
"Some spinning objects, doesn't look too hard"
If only I knew...
I figured I'd start with the background objects and I finally worked out how to do it last night (well, I had a theory last night) but couldn't test the theory until this afternoon. It wasn't how I initially thought it was going to work (at least my solution isn't).
I'm learning why people love the Amiga and why the Blitter is soooo talked about.
The proportional scrollers proved interesting but not *that* annoying, but when I hit the full page scrollers I realised that as well as being proportional, they were centred as well.
Ah well, it was ... interesting and I've learned lots :D

Umm, I'm still paranoid that it's not totally accurate. I'm not sure where (I've been staring at those damn shapes for hours now), but there's bound to be something.
Next time I think I'll go for one of those static screen, no music, no scroll, just text ones :)
-
Well, your intro is on retro-remakes, there's a lot of the old elite Amiga guys there... And I bet that they'll love it.
-
hehe, I know what you mean Xalthorn ... after hours of watching the same stuff and comparing it with the original, listening to the same tune again and again.. you do not know where you are anymore. But the result is great here.
I hope you will release some more remakes soon ;)

Hehe, thanks

Maybe something without such a mad deadline.
Although to be fair, the deadline was only mad because I spent a couple of weeks away from the 'net and didn't realise it had started. I'm a sucker for a challenge, so it's all self induced ;)

I hope you will release some more remakes soon ;)
And now you have cut your teeth on something difficult, maybe you could go for some more pain? ;) As Stormbringer says...
Anything you make would have a good home.

Well, it's a great way of learning how to do things so I probably will. I'm bound to choose something way over my ability again so it would take some time :)

Here's areally good one...
(It has mouse control too)
Nemesis crack 03 in the archive.
That would be a tricky one.
It made amazing use of the copper...
-
Btw, that intro has significance to me too, the P.O box listed there belonged to my old friend Mr.T who was in groups like Nemesis, Skid Row and Razor 1911 (amongst others)..
He was a hacker and used to get calling cards.. Properly illegal guy. HE always told me that he'd probably grow up to be an accountant.
I wonder if he did and if he's in prison.

LOL, give me a moment to recover why don't you ;)
Although I'm loading it up now to have a sneaky peeky

nice suggestion. It's pretty simple if you think about it.
BTW, Hellsangel has resourced it too.

Umm, I just looked at that one and I'm confused where the mouse control comes in. I wiggled and wiggled and nothing happened. I clicked and it ended.
-
Hold Right mouse and move the mouse left and right :)

Aha!
That's perfect, it'll let me see what they're doing without going dizzy watching a spinning object :)
Ahhh curse you! I'm getting drawn into another one already.
hehe

Ooh, I just realised in my panic to submit the thing, I never threw it through a compressor.
Rather than update the first post, I've uploaded it to this one. It's now about 40k rather than 200k
-
Very good one, Xalthorn!
