Title: [LED] Cubesque
Post by: Hezad on November 23, 2008
Yeyhookey :D I finally found a little idea.

I'll try to code another entry since this one was more to have a first try for the comp. It's called "Cubesque" and it's a really short one. Don't expect to see more than what you see first :P

'hope you'll like it ;D

Rar(Bin+Audio) : Download (http://narky00.free.fr/NewSite/MyFiles/LED_Comp_bin.rar)

No src in the zip since I noticed comp entries were generally without any src. But I can post it somewhere if anybody wants :)
Oh, and all the effect is done with movement, so the attached screenshot doesn't really show the thing ^^

Yeah ... first nice entry of this very cool competition.
Like it - reminds me on the reduced competition because
of its color-scheme. Nice firsty.

About the sources - please wait with releasing them until
the competition is closed. That way we hope that we see
many variation of different approaches to solve this comp
theme.

Just noticed ... would be nice if song were looped.

Great work.

I like how you took the time to pixel the lights rather than just drawing circles and calling them lights.

I wanted to do so first, but the song isn't really composed to be looped :S

Nice one!

a very good looking project :goodpost:

2 things though that i think need to be looked at are the dark side of the cube, the cube should be bright on all sides, and the other thing is that when the cube spins it creates a wavy effect that messes up the cube scheme, maybe a different rotation?

other than that it's really nice :goodpost:

this is going to be a hard competition

thanks :)

hum.. I don't understand this one :S The cube is colored along the Z axis (the farer it is, the darkest it is) :)

That's the point :D I wanted the cube not to be recognizable all the time but with movement.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback !

ok i get it now ok my bad, i was thinking on r/l leds and how those leds behave ::)
and didn't take into account that if you make all the leds bright then it wouldn't look like a cube but like a spinning red thing.

once again a really nice job man :goodpost:

Nice prod! Very nice led'tized display.

The tune by you is sweet, you are clearly talented in other areas aswell than only in the coding.

PS.
When I booted the .exe ffdshow window popped up and asked me whether I want to use ffdshow. I don't know what it was about.

Anyways, really clean and nice work man! (and the music rocks)

hum.. ffdshow is a set of audio/video codecs if I remember correctly :) It must have something to do with the mp3; but I don't know what nor why :S
