Logo looks nice - though it looks rather Xara3D-styled ?
Did you use that program ?

Using the logo the way you did it with the starfield doesnt
fit IMHO. The logo is too big in my eyes in propotion to the
whole scene. I would make it at least half the size and place
it at the center top aera. Then add a scrolly, text writer and
or other fx (e.g.rotating cube) in the center below the logo.

Just my 2cts.

I can't really see anything different here from the other examples you posted of some logo / some picture with a starfield.

I am glad that you can use the image code I gave you but the idea was not really for it to be just used as it was, I was hoping that people would add other things too.

As far as I can remember, you were working on a scroller?
With the information posted it shouldn't be too difficult to do it.

The logo looks a little better than the 2d pictures you posted, I'll echo what Benny said though, it looks like standard plug-ins were used to make it. Also its a bit big for my tastes.

To get further encouragement you need to push yourself on from where you are now. You're not going to get better if you keep releasing the same thing with different pictures, so here's hoping that you will add some of your own code to that graphics routine, I would be impressed if you did!

Don't get me wrong, I am glad that you can display the images, you need to push yourself on now though.

If your going down the road of 3d now i would say 3dsmax is really good 1 to start using.

guys you're missing the point.

you commented on the code while the subject is the logo.

and this is not a release, it's a logo test to see how and if it looks ok with a starfield.

also the reason i made it that big is to notice the details in it, in a normal intro it would be at least 1/2 or 1/3 of it's current size.

yes the base is made with xara3D, the rest is photoshop.

i wanted to test xara first b/c as i said i'm experimenting, then i''l move on ;)

@Shockwave

just b/c i'm still working on that scrolled doesn't mean i can't do other things as well ;)

Ok, the logo is too big and looks very rushed, like it uses built in filters and elements.

If you post code and ask for feedback, you're going to get feedback on code and logo.

To me, a logo should not require the viewer to squint or second guess what it says.

Unfortunately, I have to do that with this one.  Some of the letters have lost some of their clarity and definition, especially the 'E'.

Also, although the letters are 3D, there is no depth to the image.  The letters are slanted and skewed, but they appear to be on the same 2D flat plane as all the others.  For example, if you look at the 'K' 'E' 'R' sequence, they are all at different angles, but there is nothing to indicate depth of field between them.

I'm not sure what effect you were going for with the texture, but on the one hand it looks like it should be a wet, watery effect (with the things near a lot of the letters, especially near the 'K') yet, these things have the same texture as the letters and the letters appear to have depressions rather than something on them.

There is also a very thin line at the bottom of the logo which looks like it's a left over and should be erased.

To echo what has already been said, I find the starfield distracts me and stops me looking at the logo.  I appreciate it's good that you're testing the transparency, but you could do that equally well by having a dark coloured background (dark blue or green perhaps?).

I've just read what I've written and it's all negative.... sorry about that.

To counter those comments, I'll add that although it's not something that I personally find appealing, it's a darn good attempt and can only improve.

The first few hurdles of creating a logo have been overcome.  You have the text, you've extruded it, you've textured it, and you have transparency.
