Ooh, now you've reminded me.  After telling PO about good midi renderers.
I used to have a 486sx 25 with 1Mb of RAM, Windows 3.11 and a Gravis Ultrasound.  It sucked at everything, except the midi playback on the GUS was awesome.  They went bankrupt unfortunately, but if you go and look for Timidity you will find they use the GUS Patches to render midi to wav or mp3.

@PO: A bit late in response and sorry there, however no water cooling im afraid - it sounds a bit dangerous. To be honest im not one of those that are into Moding or pimping my ride. If I had an Alien Ware Desktop then I'd probably go all out fancy with the coloured lighting effects; but I have to be carefull as Im not working and living on state benefits, so have to watch every penny, especially for Mr Electricty man. I'd love a new system, but cant see that happening for a few more years.

I was hoping for more people to fill this topic up with their computer specs, for an aid / reference for members to be able to check whats on your system for Debugging and Testing purposes. Thought it might be useful, and also sticky'ed. That is if the admins like the idea.

This will require a bit of hacking around in the guts of SMF but it may be possible.. I will look into it, the only reservation I have is that I plan to upgrade the forum to SMF2.0 + when I get the time and I know that will require some changes to the database, it's not difficult to do it's just time consuming, there are a lot of source files for SMF and it's a matter of stepping through a lot of php and finding the right sources, then altering them and applying the 2.0 patch to see if it breaks the upgrade software.
