I got some inspiration today and did a complete set of 256 ascii and extended ascii characters.
Free to use but please provide credit since it was a grueling 4 hours in Ms Paint. ;)
Some of the letters were very hard to fit in 8x8. Might be fun for maybe a very low res demo. They are currently monospace, however with some coding you could find the widths and use it like a normal font. They key to this set is the included border characters wich make it possible to construct crude boxes and such. Might be for for a ascii demo where you need some shapes drawn.
The file has a transparent background channel so it may be hard to see on the forum.

That's pretty cool. Have some K++. Thanks a lot!

Nice of you to share this. Especially the border characters are great for those old school rpg games :)
-
It would be nice for a small intro
-
Good work :)
These little fonts are always useful.

You've given me a great idea.
More about that in a few weeks. :)

Looks interesting, I have always wanted to make a RPG game, but everytime I begin, something else comes along and distracts me. A RPG game requires a bit of commitment to complete, but it will probably always be one of those things that I wish to make.

Hmm .. don't know what you thought - I thought of a textmode game ;-)

Here is a small revision.
I noticed some letters had odd serifs and some letters were just ugly, especially the lowercase "p".
-
K+ for your dedication.

Another fix. This time I noticed that some characters had extra thickness (! " ' and ?") also I made "/" match "\ " . The width of "0" was inconsistent wth the numbers so I expanded it a bit.

Where is the right-arrow?
-
Doesn't look like there is one

Looks like you are right about that, which is a bit strange I think. Why would they not have included a right arrow when they have the others, makes no sense to me.
-
If you need directional indicators you can always use the carrots.
-
I will probably just use the empty space at 26, but I was just wondering why it wasn't there.
-
Are these fonts still available anywhere? None of the links seem to work. Thanks!

Sorry for that, it seems we loose some attachments here, we are working on it.
Anyway, you can send a personal message to the author -Pixel Outlaw-, and maybe he can upload this file again.

Feel free to use as you please. :)
*edit, not 8x8, but useful none the less.

Thanks guys for the information and those font files (I've seen them in some demos before)! Though they're not 8x8, I can at least use them for testing purposes. ;D
