"Lesser"
For this compo, I thought it'd be neat to do a 4k intro :) I thought a tiny .exe would fit the compo nicely, and, well, just wait till you see the intro :D
Requirements:
NVidia card with SM4.0 support (might work on ATI and/or sm3...didn't test :P)
If you can't meet those requirements there's a 640x480 video here (http://ftp://ftp.untergrund.net/users/thygrion/yup-lesser-xvid-640x480.avi) and a 720p version here (http://ftp://ftp.untergrund.net/users/thygrion/yup-lesser-xvid-720p.avi)....also youtube here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohGSdGBOR4Q) :) .
...and pouet.net link is here (http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=53547), if we can speak of such things ;) ...
Put alot of work into this (and still had like 700 bytes I could've filled but that's ok :) ) so I hope you like it!!
Enjoy.

Thats wonderful Ferris :)
I really love the way that the particles float around, great work and the synth sounds great too!
-
Didnt have the hardware spec to run it - but watched the video
(thanks for adding a video btw)
It's absolutely great. The synth and style totally fits together.
The motion and sync'ing is perfect. Thumb up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Well it doesnt work on my Vista machine with ati HD4830 card, sound is there but no visuals.
Watch the video of it tho and its pretty cool, would have been nice to have seen the realtime version :)
-
Very impressive work, Ferris!
I especially love the shader on the torus.
Works fine on a geforece 8600 GT, just a little bit slow.
-
Really the most impressive demo that I have seen for this competition.
I was surprise to see a new demo this morning on pouet for finally learn that was a DBF entry. So I can't do better than this.
Well done ;)
-
Wow.
I'm watching on youtube with no sound on a monitor with a huge crack down the middle and brightness and contrast turned to 100%, but this is still very very nice! Well done, Ferris! :)
(I'll try and watch it properly on Monday!)
-
I think it must be using something nvidia specific as it doesnt work on my xp pc which also has an ati card. Might be an extension or something in the shader, the fact it doesnt crash suggests its something like that, I just get a white screen and the music.
I am going to give you one of these :whack: until you fix it :P

saw the youtube vid :)
Awesome work, movement and shapes are wonderful :goodpost:
-
The youtube video shows you how cool this 4kb is. The synth is really impressive too, among the best I have ever heard.
-
I too lack the hardware required for this one, but the video looks very interesting.
-
I got black circles on red background, checked video version and it's pretty nice 4k intro, well done!
I hope you can fix it for those with Geforce 8800GTS ;)
-
Hehe sorry about the compatibility issues....guess that's what happens when you only test an intro with two triangles on two machines :P
It worked on a GF8500 and GF8600 so I assumed later models would handle it fine too, but I suppose new nvidia cards are catering more to the actual GLSL spec (which I assume caused the issues here; bad shader code....it was all written in the assembly framework so no actual debugging was done other than: "If I get a single colored screen, it didn't work :P ")
Maybe I'll do a final version and also fill those extra ~750 bytes...but for now I'd love a break from this beast :P
Synth & tool go public by the end of the summer, too. If we don't use it for our Assembly entry this year it'll probably be out by the end of the month :)
Soundtrack is ftp://ftp.untergrund.net/users/thygrion/microscope_lencut.mp3 too, btw :)
-
That was very very nice! It felt really 3d. I think that it about the best bubble blowing elephant I've even seen.
-
Wow this is excellent well done Ferris :)
-
I got black circles on red background [...] with Geforce 8800GTS
Dunno if anything changed meanwhile but it runs pretty fine on my 8800GTS with driver-version 185.85.
-
@Ferris:
Wow, very cool 4k - congratulation and respect! Btw, can you add an unpacked version of the 4k to the archive, so Windows7 users can run/watch the exe too - without crashing? ;) Btw, really cool entry!
-
Definitely won't run on any machine I have access to, and I can't download the avi files, but judging on the youtube alone this is pure class. Well done, YUP/Ferris!
-
Wow :o
what a brilliant tune too
edit: The mood is like the nice old module, introchip#14/Dubmood

You were right, works fine with driver update :P
-
Any chance of an uncrinkled exe so I can run it on Windows 7?
Jim
-
Might finalize this after assembly, but I've too much on my plate for the next few days.
-
Cool, thanks!

Final version, now about 6x faster and including a safe (win7 compatible) version.
ftp://ftp.untergrund.net/users/thygrion/yup-lesser-final.zip
Enjoy :)
-
@Ferris:
Even faster? Cool! Thanks a lot for Win7 compatible version... =)
-
K+
-
Might be ati compatible too :) I followed the GLSL spec but didn't have the card to test it on, so it'll PROBABLY work :P
-
Still doesnt work here on my ati vista setup, infact it now locks up totally were as before i just got a blamk window with sound but no gfx :(
I will be honest I find that 90% of 4k and smaller stuff doesnt work tho so it's not just you ;)
