Title: [MAGNIFICATION] Molecules by LittleWhite
Post by: LittleWhite on July 25, 2009
Here this is my little contribution \o/

Normally, all dlls are in the package ( at least for the windows users )
For Linux, you have to install glew and freeglut ( sorry about that ).

I am also sorry to not provide a video, because I am using shaders but normally you won't have any problem.

I think I have nothing more to say, if you want more information see the .nfo

[EDIT]
Here you can download a video: http://www.sendspace.com/file/rp94br (~110Mo sorry :s)
Please remember that the video is not really good and vitiate the quality of the animation
[/EDIT]

[EDIT2]: 6 Sep 2009: Attachment fixed, with a little surprise, there are the sources ;) [/EDIT]

Enjoy

Runs at less than 1fps here, the screen looks cool though.

Are you using non power of two textures by any chance?

Runs fine here and seems fairly smooth, I like the way it zooms right in on the molecule.

It's funny cos I watched an episode of the simpsons last night and they zoomed out and out thru space and the galaxy until it eventually looped back to homers head, this is sort of the reverse effect :)

I don't know Shockwave ...

Your idea is right (already had the problem) but this time I am using texture of 256x256.
I know that I can surely optimise my shaders ...
Or is it the gluProject function ... but I think it is doing only multiplications.

@TinDragon: Which epidose ? :)

i think the episode is called "The Ziff Who Came to Dinner" but I am not 100% sure of that.

I can't run either of your demos, it just exits immediately ( no error). Does it have shaders?

Yes, it uses shaders...

If you want more precision about the reason of the stop of the program, see the log ( called Trace.log )

I am sorry for all the problems that you can have with my program ... :s

I appreciate the support you gave the the challenge :)

At least I can see what this should look like from the screen shot.

The image looks cool, but the demo doesn't run on my machine.

The message in my trace log is:
ERROR: The shading language is not supported on your machine
