hey guys :)
what you are about to see is far by finished i'm still working on it.
the reasons i'm posting this are 2.
1: your opinion on the work so far.
2: if you know where i can find a GameBoy font , so i can fill in some details in the graphic.
below is the original image and next to it the "work in progress" one.

Very close - just missing some text and the D-Pad.
You may want to experiment with some sans-serif fonts. I'll have a look too.
-
thanx m8 ;D
yes indeed it still has many details to be done.
i know it's not gonna be 100% accurate, but what's important is the try to make it and the practice while making it.
.:EDIT:. i think i have found a similar font
/me is going to try it out
.:EDIT:. again (lol)
/me reports back
i have found one, the font is very similar to the original one if not 100% the same :carrot:
/me is going to apply the text to the image, and will update the image in the first post

Good Job and Keep going Bikerboy :)

maybe the g.b boot font is the one.

yes that's the one i used, thanx for the trouble to look for the font.
in case anyone is interested, the :inspired: came to me while reading this -> http://www.tutorial9.net/photoshop/design-a-stylish-retro-game-boy-poster-in-photoshop/ (http://www.tutorial9.net/photoshop/design-a-stylish-retro-game-boy-poster-in-photoshop/) photoshop tutorial.
this guy has some nice tutorials and teqniques.
i did my version of the G.B. a bit differently than the one in the tutorial.
.:EDIT:. i updated the image in the first post, it only needs a few details and i think it's ready :)
-
Looks great. Hope to see it soon!

hey benny :D
it's allmost complete just a few details to add
it's not an intro m8 just a graphic, an attempt to replicate the game boy.
the screen i put there is for fun (i prefer it from putting a game boy actual game image).
.:EDIT:. it's finished ;D , first post pic updated.

Nice work dude!
Meaby fade the phones and off-on outlines a bit also.
You made me fire up my dusty 3d software and ogle my old nintendo models again!
:whisper: Looking forward to e3, supposedly Nintendo will be presenting the 3DS (3d without glasses!)

thanx m8
yes you're right, those 2 spots need fixing
-
Cool. I wonder how accurate it can get using vectors and text alone.
-
thats shaping up nicely Dude!
Welldone on your efforts :D

you mean something like a wireframe? or standart 2D with just lines? (like the cube in the GB screen)
this guy here did a nice job http://man-vs-squid.blogspot.com/2010/04/bad-at-blogging.html

You could try http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ (http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/) to try to get the font closer.

Vector images are made up of curves/lines, unlike bitmap images they won't get pixelated when scaled up. Vectors are better suited for hard cut-out shapes and bitmaps are better at displaying smooth color gradients, You can see the difference in my liquid demo (http://www.kirl.nl/DBFLiquid.swf). The intro screen is a bitmap which pixelates at full screen, but the rest of the demo is all vector (the faucet and drops etc).
I love old nintendo stuff, I spend a lot of time recreating Nintendo consoles and stuff when learning 3d. Yesterday I found a 360 render of a GameBoy cartridge which I uploaded, if you have Quicktime installed you can view it from various angles by dragging it (kirl.nl/360GBGame.mov (http://kirl.nl/360GBGame.mov)). Change the GB in the url to GBA, GCN or N64 for some more oldschool game renders. :)
Looking forward to seeing your final result, it's nearly there. Meaby you can even add a bit of shadow inside the screen, like the example picture.
Also excellent link Jim, thanks!
-
the only reason i didn't include the screen shadow is b/c the GB is supposed to be on.
thanx for the link jim  , and if it doesn't recognise it? no biggie just 1 more layer with a font , meaning i'm gonna make 2 different layers the 2 words.
-
There'd still be a shadow though, no backlighting... :)
-
um well it all depends from the light and the angle that shines on the object but sure why not i'll add some shadow.
.:EDIT:. @Jim i tried the page and it came up with a few results but the weird thing is that all resulted fonts are in the "predator" language :skint:
