Title: School is now done for the summer. Back...and with 5 keyboards...
Post by: Pixel_Outlaw on May 20, 2010
So towards the end of the school year I started collecting mechanical keyboards. I don't know if they make me a better geek but I like to think so

I look forward to starting to hang out here now during my hours off from work..

Yeah, those are the real keyboards! Not those slim/flat/mac-styled keyboards!

Cool! How long do you have left at schooling?

I had a carpet like that, and 3rd from the left looks immaculate.
Im going to use a dirty word to the IBMness, I've got a black microsoft keyboard, and every summer when it gets muggy, it picks up on the sweat and dust. any cleaning tips?

looking forward to see your adventures,
Clyde.

The best way to cleanse a Microsoft keyboard is with a small amount of lighter fluid and some open flame. Just kidding. Pull the keys off and soak them in a bowl of water and about 4 to 5 denture cleaning tablets.

Also cherry switches are very nice. I want to try the blue ones as they are the loudest supposedly.

Good to be back gents.

Gah, wish my school was out for summer :P I'm sick of high school, excited for university...

Anyways I might be able to mail some of those old beauties to you at some point, if you're interested :) .

Good to see you back on the forum. It looks like you are off to a good start on your keyboard collection. I used to have a few of those, not sure I still have them though. At the moment I am using Logitech G15 and G11 for my development and gamer pcs. For my media center I am using a Logitech diNovo Mini.

I am not sure those keyboards will make you a better geek, but they are usually a lot better to type on than a lot of the keyboards you can buy these days.

I nicked one of those IBMs a few months ago. I'm going for something like this (http://steampunkworkshop.com/keyboard.shtml). With less brass. I'd get a real typewriter but the ribbon's would make me look like a wimp.
