For the past few weeks I have been working on an electronic book covering the topic of creating a roguelike game as requested by a friend. I am currently at Chapter 10 and post the chapters and code as I finish them so folks can follow along. The book is a bit rough right, but will be cleaned up in the final version.
This is going to be a very comprehensive book covering every aspect of creating the game from conception to completion. It should be useful for not only in creating a roguelike, but also in learning FB and in making games in general. If you are interested you can get all the info, pics and downloads on the FB forum:

Hey guys, long time no see. I hope everyone has been well.
As you can see from the date on this thread I have been working on this for almost a year and the draft version is now available. Haven't been doing much else either. I didn't realize at the time that this would have the scope it does. I might not have started it. :)
I believe this is the only book available that gives a complete step-by-step approach on creating a roguelike game. This starts with an idea and ends with a playable game.
The final version is done and can be found here (http://users.freebasic-portal.de/rdc/tutorials.html).

Thats quite a comprehensive tutorial. It seems like you are covering just about everything in this. It almost makes me want to make a rougelike game. :)

Heh. Thanks.

Wow rdc! You've put a huge amount of effort into this. Good stuff :)
Thanks for sharing. K++

I've been following this series for some time now, its great to see that you've brought it near to completion. I'll have to give this a good going over next time I have some hours spare. I've always been a massive fan of Rougelikes, though I've never actually played the original Rouge, still I have a collection of them in my Games folder and this will be a welcome addition.

I've been looking through the firefox document too..
There are many things that happen in life that I will frankly never understand, and the fact that you are not working in the computer industry and earning a lot of money is one of them.
The amount of effort you put into your tutorials is breathtaking, and here you have something that could easily have been published as a book and perhaps earned you a little bit of money - but you are totally unselfish with your achievments and knowledge and you just give it all away.
Wow!
Huge respect mate.

Thanks. I am really trying to get this wrapped up this week. I am going back through it and cleaning it up, adding in the missing stuff and will hopefully get a final package done by the end of this coming week.
It has been a lot of work, but it has also been enjoyable. I am looking forward to getting back to my projects I've let slide while I worked on this though, especially some demos I had planned. Of course, I'll need to re-learn everything again...:)

Thanks man. I have the utmost respect for you and your abilities, so this means a lot to me. This is just my way of giving back to the community and my friends. :)
