Title: Creep Tea (GP2X demo/Win32 port)
Post by: Optimus on August 02, 2006
I wasn't much into coding and tired by the scene after the release of Led Blur, but there was a GP2X demo competition pending. Though even if I abandoned the idea at first to work on a new demo this period, I changed sortly a mind and said "Why not?" two days before the deadline and so I finished the demo Creep Tea. I am sattisfied with the result for 2 days of coding (and even less since I was working on the evening only). Code recycling mostly but some nice 3d scenes, more impressive than those in led blur. Less 2d effects though and no transitions or design.

Download the Windows port somewhere in the link here..

p.s. Maybe my last work for a long time. I am too tired now and soon I won't be here.. :/

I really like this one, especially that tunnel effect and the plane warpping to the music.

For such a fast coded production it is really, really  good.
I liked this more than Led blur, the colours were better (sorry! I know how long led blur took!), cool demo.

I am happy that you like the colors actually and that you think it's better than Led Blur. I got a similar comment in Pouet too and maybe it's the first time someone says he likes the colors in a demo of mine. And since after Led Blur I started taking care more of such aspects as colors (and hopefully in my next demo, gfx and design too), I also felt that in this one some scenes looked better in my eyes cause the colors were matching more. But I didn't knew how others thing about it because I am not really sure and I am happy to see some positive comments about the color. And so I know that I am slowly improving in that aspect too now. It's better to get such comments in detail rather than "this sucks", "this rules", because I have an idea how others look on my demos. I've tried to watch my demos but I don't know how it is in first impression for others because I had been watching the same scenes for more than 100 times in debugging ;)

You know better than anyone that at Pouet there are some people who never produce anything and just spend their lives ciritcising. I think that you take the comments over there too seriously sometimes and even if you didn't, Led blur has had 100 Thumbs up, top of the month and may well make it into the all time top 10 eventually. I think that is an accolade that very few people can say that they have achieved. I don't think I will ever do it.

Your code is great, I like watching your demos, they take me to the era of the early PC scene and lets be honest, there are not many people making stuff like that any more, you have people releasing werkzeug demos that all look the same.. At the same time there are people who write stuff for the love of it and I think that you are one of them so don't take it all too seriously, do it for the satisfaction and realise that you will never be able to please everyone, no matter what you release, someone will always thumb it down and put some fucked up comment on your prod.

Optimus - 2 nights work? I may as well give up trying. You just depressed the hell out of me.
Its great, nicely done. I like demos that just simply say - hey heres an effect. Hey heres another.
Thats exactly what this does.

Heh, it reminds me that funny demo saying "..and never tell them about the hard work of 2 months you worked. Say this demo was finished 30 minutes before the deadline to impress people ;)"

Actually, it was 2 days of mostly reused code and old 3d engine, but still the work was genug to generate objects in code and script the demo in it's actuality.

It's still better than LED Blur :)  ( I love both ) By the way, welcome back Optimus, I missed you.

Still in the army, but I might be active on the net 1-2 times per week.

Maybe I can have a laptop inside the army camp soon and code in the evenings. My duty is that of a military mailman and so I am inside the military mail office half of the day (doesn't feel much like army here). My coleague writes his course work on a laptop in the evenings, they might also give me some keys to come in the office at the evenings and code or study. Time will tell, I need a laptop first..

Yeah, that's cool. I deliver stuff for my job too Optimus, it's not so bad. Hope that the break from the computer is doing you a little good and it's nice that you are still around sometimes.

Finally saw this one.

Not too bad! I liked the GP2X logo the most (fake phong ;) ? )

The design and colors weren't too neato in my opinion, but there were some awesome effects in there.
