Hey all,
here is my entry for this great challenge. It was hacked together in a rush.
LAUNCH DBF-WIRE (http://www.dbfinteractive.com/adminteam/benny/dbfwire/)
This production makes extensive use of third party libraries (limited time forced me to do so). In detail it uses:
* Away3D as 3D-Engine
* swfvector for extracting/drawing vector shapes and font glyphs from SWFs
* BloomFilter class by Ben Hopkins (Kode80)
* Tweener as Tweening class
Great tune is by Smirk called "They do" ! (Tune shouldn't be subject of voting though)
Keep this in mind, before you vote ;-)
Anyway, hope you like the result.
Best,
benny!
Small Update
- Added a little gimmik mode. Press left mousebutton to enable/disable it.
Final Update (I promise)
- Added great track called "They do" by Smirk
- Removed left mousebutton mode in favor of some syncing
-
Cool to see another entry and it's even pretty neat for an entry done in a rush! ;) Amazing what is possible in Flash nowadays. Sad, that there's no music, but still, well done! :)
-
Fair point about the music. Actually I tried out some tunes from the HD - but none of 'em really fitted. Then I thought
about syncing the camera movement to some music - but this would have exceed the production time I had ;-)
-
That looks really cool :)
I love it that you used the colours from the DBF logo - and the bloom filter is very nice too.
By the way, did you know you can embed flash into your posts here with the flash tags?
[flash=200,200] [/flash]
If you are placed in the top 3 we'll need a stand alone copy (zipped) for the showcase.
Cheers Benny!

@Shocky:
Thanks. Yup, I know about the flash bb codes and I really like them. However, since the original flash is 800x600 I
though it would be best to have it in a separate window. Nevertheless, for smaller purposes I do really love the
possibility to embed flash directly into a post.
Zipped project is attached to first post just in case ;)!
-
Thanks mate :)
Good luck!
-
Well done mate ...
How is done the blur ? By adding some particles with high transparancy part ?
Anyway ... it's really nice :)
-
Well, I hope according to this rule
Please only post finished work, if you update your entry the final one will be voted on.
It is ok, that I updated the file. I just added a little gimmik mode I like to call The Colours I Love.
Simple left click on the stage to enable/disable it ;-)
That was the first and last update I promise!

Thanks. As stated above I used the BloomFilter by Ben Hopkins. The effect can be splitted up into 4 steps. Have a
read at the official blog post (http://kode80.com/2009/06/23/realtime-bloom-filter-in-as3/) by the original author. You could also have a look at the AS3.0 source of it:

...
Right. Credits for the nice colour-scheme must of course go to Dicab/Alcatraz ;) Another reason why I added
the "Colours I Love"-mode!
-
Nice improvement! :clap:
-
The glowy letters were great, the update is excellent, some music would be brilliant! :clap:
-
This looks pretty neat!
Love the additive blending for that electric look.

Because of those comments...
...Sad, that there's no music, but still, well done! :)
... some music would be brilliant! ...
... I did one final (I promise) update and added sound. In favor of some syncing I removed the left mousebutton
mode.
So please watch the new version for a while to see the FX evolving.
Great track is called They do by smirk. (The music itself should not be subject of voting)
Best,
benny!

Nice wireframe thingy + nice music + syncing = bingo! :clap:
Cool update, now it's really got it all! (...and next time do so in the first place! hehe)
-
Good choice of song :)
It really creates a great atmosphere.

Thanks. I feel reliefed ;-) ... indeed I am much more happy now with the final result. The original released was simply too rushed.
Thanks for all the constructive feedback!
-
Great job benny i really like this & that tune just really fits this...
-
Cool Demo there :)
-
@Dr.Death & Hotshot:
Thanks a lot!
-

Thanks, mate. Yeah, I am a sucker of glowing lines, too - that's why I like this challenge's theme so much.
Next should be checkerboards I guess ;-)
-
I've no idea how you made that blurring effect - I'm amazed!
Another excellent Flash entry which shows off the capabilities of both the coder and the SDK brilliantly.
-
Nice work Benny! Really impressed what can be done with Flash these days. Looks really cool.
-
@CKO & Raizor:
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you liked it!
-
Very well designed, the music, the colours, the visuals, they all flow smoothly. Yep this entry definately works for me. Well done benny.
