My first thought was Shall buy new computer for this year or wait until General 2 Come out which is next year....
I think I going go for Desktop because simple reason is that so Upgradeable and also cheaper than Laptop
I do know Intel is the best but High End AMD is also good because it cheaper than Intel.
I was thinking of somethings like this
Gaming PC Intel Core i7 2600 Quad Core (4x 3.40Ghz)
Upto 3.8Ghz with Turbo Core
Cooler Master Elite 430 Black With Side Window PC Case
Storm Black 500Watts Power Supply
Motherboard 1155 Motherboard
Processor Intel Core i7 2600
4.0GB DDR3 RAM (Can be upgraded)
On-Board 1GB Graphics with DVI-I, VGA
On-Board 6 Channel Audio
Samsung DVD Rewriter (Can be upgraded to Blue-Ray)
The graphics cards I would get would be Nvidia GTX 460 Cards or ATI HD 5770 :)
I just hope EA doesnt mess it up with General 2 like they did with C & C 4 !

£485 and if I get the Graphics cards which would be £300 then I would be Happy :)
-
I'll wait until I can read a full description of the game - if it is a worthy successor, I may finally buy a decent computer.

I would allways go for a tower, I have had my tower for the last 10 years now and it has lasted me well, it's only ever had one new motherboard + one new processor + one new hard drive + one new DVD drive.. O' Ya and I replaced the power supply last week
-
Just got hold of a laptop which plays the original Generals at full speed.
Now I'll watch the reviews for Generals 2 and see if it is enjoyable enough for me to get another new laptop / computer / upgrade right away.

Command & Conquer Generals 2 has no single-player campaign
Will ship as an online multiplayer game only
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/364047/command-conquer-generals-2-has-no-single-player-campaign/
That SUCK :(
I really like what one Command and conquer fans say
"Gets back to the roots".
I want to hit them in the face and shove down my copy of First Decade down their throats and ask them if the original Command & Conquer games didn't have any campaigns.
This really, really screwed up my interest for both this game, and my last remaining hopes for this once fantastic franchise that has been so utterly bastardized by complete idiots!!!"
-
I want to hit them in the face and shove down my copy of First Decade down their throats
And that's why they say these kind of games make you aggressive :)

I didnt say that.....that what the fans say.....here the proof of the picture that I have read from computer and videogames website
(http://www4.picturepush.com/photo/a/9023537/img/Anonymous/eh.png)
I agree with fans of what they saying.... I have never heard of Commander and conquer game that doesnt have single campaign until now :(
I dont think any newbie command and conquer players going play online because they going get trash all the time and it will put them off playing it and that why single campaign is must because they can practices the game so often to get better ::)
-
They can design clever ways of matching up newbies with newbies. That said, I can't stand the multiplayer obsession. It's what happens when they only look at the numbers and stop thinking about anthing else.
Going multiplayer only makes total financial sense, but we don't play games for the money... :-\
-
I definitely hate the idea of multiplayer only for this game.
Still, look on the bright side, there is still the original Generals & Hamachi ...
-
I've been reading about this, and they've renamed it "Command & Conquer". It should be out this year, available as a downloadable title only, WITH a single player campaign.
The GLA returns, to be thwarted by Europe and the Asian/Pacific Aliance, so it should be Generals 2 in all but the name.
-
-
Yay! I've been crashing my laptop with Generals though, so I may need some new hardware for Generals 2.

I wish they were doing a shmup out of this and not just some strategy crap ;)
-
Is your Window 7 32bit or 64bit?
What your Spec of Computer that you are building? :)
Shoot em up? Check out R Type Delta(PSone) or Final R Type or Gradius V(Both PS 2) all are Hard Game!
-
It will be 64 bit Windows 7 to take full advantage of the 8GB of DDR3 RAM.
The CPU is a Quad Core 3GHz Athlon 2.
The graphics card is a Radeon HD6450 with 1GB of RAM with DirectX 11 support.
Windows 7 won't arrive until some time next week, but I've finished setting up the hardware and I get a nice shiny blue BIOS screen to look at when I turn it on.
Time for a beer.
@hellfire - I'm afraid Generals 2 is looking like it will be another strategy game. The chances of it including a shmup mini game are slim, but EA have been known to make unexpected changes to the series in the past, so it could happen.
-
All looking good :)
Do you mean Athlon II X2 OR X4?
-
It's an Athlon II X4 650.

Just found the news from General 2
EU
The most advanced looking faction
We use current or experimental military vehicles for reference
Introduce angular shapes that convey sleekness
Final unit designs should appear fast, efficient and well maintained
Structures are constructed modularly and the functionality drives the overall design
GLA
The most heavily modified faction
Both civilian and military vehicle references are used for inspiration
Create an identifiable chassis and combine elements from other vehicles and weapons
Add welded plates and equipment in large amounts
Final unit design should be an asymmetrical blend of parts to form a coherent whole
Structures are a mix of repurposed building materials that are hastily a assembled into a ragged form
APA
The heaviest, most solid looking faction
Current Soviet or Chinese military vehicles are used for reference
We create a solid chassis then introduce rounded elements
Add significant amounts of armor plating and stowed gear
Final unit design should be appear strong and built for survivability on the battlefield
Structures are inspired by traditional Asian architecture but built from reinforced steel girders and concrete
I dont know how many general there are but I heard some gamer played on it and say it is best things they have done!

-
The Generals "Junkyard" and "Kitbash" look like they'll have similar styles based mainly on salvage, if the tools they're holding are any indication of their skills.
-
I loved Generals and I would like for this game to be good but I have zero confidence in EA at this point.
-
I playing General 2 Alpha Beta :D :updance:
