Doesn't seem to work for me :(Â  it does nothing at all when i run it.

Got it working, needed newer version of bass.

I'm going to play devils advocate here to a point but don't let that take anything away from this great production.

1: Where is your musician? It's a shame that with a product as nice as this you have to use a ripped tune (nice as it is).
2: That end part, it would have been so easy to change so that the chequerboard faded out to black instead of popping in.
3: Asking people to include a DLL is a no no. You should have used Ufmod.

I think if you release it on Pouet like this it will get flamed, sorry Clyde. It would be a shame too because you know what, I think it's your best demo so far and I loved it.

That was awesome! I loved how it all came together... Very good work :)

@Clyde: you know I like this  :)

But I agreed with Shockie about uFmod thingie, you never know what version of Bass.dll someone will be using.

Yep, it's not meant as a criticism and synch using ufmod is fairly easy to do also.
A demo should definately run independently without the user having to install a DLL.
In fact I didn't have bass 2.2 and had to go looking for it.
If you must use the DLL why not just include it in the zip?

Which means if you include bass.dll, you need to include the whole of bass23.zip in there too.  I think Clyde's done the right thing by the letter of the license, but really that just reinforces the reasons not to use it.  It's for that same reason I ported a Public Domain version of Mikmod module player to the PSP even though it's not the latest version.  The latest version comes under LGPL which isn't nearly so flexible.

Clyde - I like your demo.  It's a relief to see a prod that doesn't contain the mandatory 'spinning cube' in it!

hey. i liked the blur-rings most of all.

i like the way you etched G R A V I T Y into the shine orb thing (btw did you manage to optimise that at all? the original code was quite hideous...)

a few criticisms:

the rotozoomer is far too slow (+ compression artifacts are obvious)
+ i'd replace the endpart

should have been more blur-rings! you should do a demo with nothing but those.

overall i award this demo

SEVEN OUT OF TEN CATS (7/10)

Hi Carpets :)  :hi:

Cheers for all your feedback and comments. And Thanks all humbly for liking my latest affair with Freebasic.

I've now updated the archive to include the required bass.dll. Sorry for any inconvience caused etc.
Just personal preference, I like bass more, as I'm more accustomed to it. I will look into other music libraries at some stage. Thanks for the suggestions.

I had to opt for using the tune by Cerror, because the music dude who was on the case of doing some tuneage for this release, has seemed to of vanished on us. Next release, I really want to have an original melody and fingers crossed.

Huge thanks,
Clyde.

That's a shame that you were let down my your musician. Is that the one from Freebasic.net? Zamaster? Hope he's ok, he seemed keen to help out at first.
Glad you've stuck the lib in the archive, that will definately mean that more people will see it.

There were a lot of parts to this demo that I liked, having watched it a few times now I can tell you that it also contains two parts that I wouldn't know how to code  :) This is a first for you and it shows me just how far you have come as a coder.

By the way, the demo runs very smooth here with nary a frame lost throughout. Well done.
I will be updating the showcase this weekend I think.

I loved it especially the globe effect, you gotta release a diy with source code for that effect!  Didn't like the music though:(

Nice demo, runs a little slow on my laptop unfortunately, very good effects though.
Is there going to be some code sharing? I would love to see how some of them are done?!?!??!

Not to be a meanie of any kind. At this moment in time as this demo features quite a few new effect of which im pretty proud of how they turned out, we wont be releasing any code for now. As I plan on re-using a few of the effects in other productions.

So glad you liked the demo, it's had a funny mixed bag of repsonse from other places. But any critique good or bad is worth it, as we learn from our endevours. Or at least try within our capacity.

Cheers and all the best,
Clyde.

Mmm, it's a shame you don't want to release the code but it's understandable.
What I am really interested in is the tunnel. Not the code, just the general technique so I can code my own..

No worries Shockie, I'll code an another example later, I'm just a little bit busy now but I'll do it.
For me it's more easy to show an example code than explain it with text (you know why :) )
