Title: [CUBES] Neon Rainbow Cube
Post by: combatking0 on April 23, 2012
This was the manliest name I could think of. I failed.

Hopefully, this demo won't fail to entertain. Unless you hate rock music or wireframes. Then it will fail to entertain.

Any suggestions for a manlier title will be greatfully accepted. The bulk of the unpacked 4MB is the music track.

I was going to do this in C++ and OpenGL, but I have yet to figure out how to make it run with sound, so I used Flash 8 again. It's probably very simple.

(EDIT) I have updated the program - the lines are now evenly spaced, and the drums control the ceiling instead of the floor.

"burly"+name = manliness++ ;D

Cool demo, looks eerily similar to what I've been sitting on. Not sure about the unevenly spaced lines and I missed a random banter scroll as you usually put something interesting in there. I like the glowy little ants on the cube and it's really cool to see you used audio to controll various parameters!

Would like to have a look at how you did it, last I tried I only got the 30 sec trial program to work...

Well done!

Excellent :)

The sync works great, I really love the Thin Lizzie song too.

Thanks everyone - if the rules permit, I will create another entry with a scroller. I have an idea for a slightly better entry.

I suppose it would look better if the floor / sky lines appeared at regular intervals. I was going for a Guitar Hero style effect, but making the top and bottom flash in time to the music should be enough.

@Kirl - on the FlashAmp download page, there's a Username and Serial number provided by the developers, since they're no longer developing this really cool resource: http://www.marmalademedia.com.au/download/index.html

You may want to use notepad++ and a spreadsheet to remove unwanted frequency ranges, or to add multiple ranges together if you want to analyse more than 16 bands.

You may enter again or update this entry as many times as you like before the deadline.

Another cool release by CK0

I like it a lot ... the wired cube with those "highlighted dots" is looking very cool. Good synching, too! Thumb up!

Thanks guys. I have now updated this entry with the suggested changes. A second entry is on the way.

The little bright spots along the cube were nice.
Very cool, almost like a visualzation of data moving across a alien technology (if that makes sense).  ;D

I was thinking of data moving along a wire when I added those dot lights. It's a new spin on the term "wireframe" ;D

Nice idea for the neon cube, but I don't see much movement. Seemed like a bug to me. Should I wait more for the music to sync?

Looks sweet and nice song choice!

@Optimus - it takes about a minute or so before the song livens up and the syncing kicks in.
