I really like my nexus 7. It's hard to put it down. Kez has a transformer prime which is also fantastic.

I have got a Samsung Galaxy 10.1N tab.
I like the hardware and the design. Although it has Android 3.1 installed and the user experience is not really smooth. The android browser is also really slow (looking forward for Android 4 update with Chrome browser). Just installed Firefox beta which is way faster.
Games run pretty solid on the device though.
Being a web coder anyways nowadays - I am also thinking about buying a ChromeBook and/or the new Nexus tablets coming from Google soon.
Anyway - the whole progress of Android tablets are looking really promising.

Since you are getting a bit of Android feedback I'll give the Playbook a bit of a write up.
Only comes in 7" afaik so if you want a big tablet it's out straight away.
Performance wise, I've found them quite powerful. They run ShadowGun silky smooth which is fairly impressive visually for a tablet game.
I've found the touch screen responsive and easy to use.
The default in achievements / leaderboards / etc. go through Scoreloop which has a lot of features so you get some cool online features with games that support it.
Not as many free apps on the store as you would get on the other platforms but the apps I've paid for are high quality.
Very easy to develop for using either Java or C/C++.
I feel it's a very well priced tablet.

I haven't played with a Nexus 7 yet but I have played with the transformer and I was very impressed with that little machine!

I didn't care for all the current options so I sort of hacked together my own from a x86 tablet PC.
I just wanted something I could program on easily. Full sized usb ports are a plus with video out.
1 GB RAM, 1 GHz processor, Debian GNU/Linux
I did this because my primary concerns for a tablet were:
0. Full root account and complete system control.
1. C/C++ compiler, Common Lisp, and Python support with established libraries like SFML, SDL, Pygame etc.
2. True multi user support.
3. GNU tool chain and userland.
4. Wacom stylus pen and xvkbd for virtual stylus keyboard.
5. Free and open source software.
Got it used for $80.
The only problem with it is the drive is an IDE drive and it takes 333 laptop RAM chips which are getting pretty rare.

The Mrs. Has the 32GB Nexus 7 and she finds it brilliant - Is an I-Pad really worth all that extra money?

I seem like my Nexus 7 over time as I got used to Andriods. Good things about Nexus 7 is Screen Quality and you can hack Nexus to have Double Batteries life and there is more you can do.
I try putting All Emulator in such Playstation, Snes, N64 Emulator and It run so smooth.
The price of itself is Excellent Value
Is an I-Pad really worth all that extra money? No as Apple charge people like arms and legs and if you want good Tablets then Nexus 7 or Galaxy Tab will do :)

My girlfriend got me an ipad 2 for Christmas, totally love it.
- I've been having guitar lessons for a couple years, and i've now scanned in all the music/tab for what i've learned that i want to revisit.
- I've picked up a peavey guitar interface for it and can use the amp modellers and record in garage band.
- Its totally replaced my laptop when i'm in the lounge for general surfing, and rdp-ing to my download/torrent box!
- As well as guitar books I've got all the OpenGL books, manuals etc in PDF format, and its really really good for browsing whilst coding - so much so i've just gone pdf crazy on it..
Downside
- She keeps stealing it to play bejewelled hd
- Of course the 'closedness' of it, but that is also a "good thing" (tm) in some ways

I've not tried reading for any length of time like that, however my girlfriend has done several hours of bejeweled HD with no ill effects.. ;D
I dont think it'd be a problem
