Hey guys,
I'm getting ready to set up my first website, and I was wondering if I can pick your brains as regards good webhosts? I don't have any complicated specifications, just the basics:
Reasonably priced
Good up-time
A few free email accounts
Decent customer support/good reputation
are there any hosts I should specifically avoid, or any you think provide the best service?

Dbf is hosted with xilo.net - fair prices, excellent uptime and good service. I would avoid the likes of hostpappa hostgaitor godaddy and anything offering unlimited diskspace... Usually if it sounds too good to be true it is. xilo is a good host.

EZ Space was also a disaster.

http://iamferris.com/ is hosted by BlueHost. I would love to tell you how I feel about them, but seeing as I haven't yet done shit with the site, I have no idea. It was, however, really simple to set up the domain etc.. but I suppose that's another issue :)

Thanks guys, I'm really liking the looks of Xilo, they're definitely one of the more affordable providers I've seen. Just breaking out the old coding books and getting down to work (they're a little out of date, I think they were the 1st HTML4 books to come out!)

W3Schools (http://www.w3schools.com/) has a great resource for the latest HTML5 / JavaScript / CSS standards.
